Some a'hole wrote on the grey plastic grille of my wife's XTerra with permanent black marker. I know it's not a 6, but it just happened yesterday and I don't know who else to ask. What can I use to remove this? I haven't tried anything yet. Thanks.

Doing it right the first time would be the best way to go. I would wet sand it briefly then re-prime, paint & clear coat it... Cheap DIY project.

Permanent marker will come off with alchohol and car wax. No need for sanding and painting.

Find the highest % pure rubbing alochol you can find and it should come right off. If for some reason that doesn't work find some industiral denatured alcohol at a hardware store.

Thanks, I was thinking that alcohol would take it off, i just haven't tried it yet. She just told me about it last night. As for painting, I don't think it's a painted part, just molded matte grey plastic.

The rubbing alcohol worked- I used it on one of those blue shop paper towels. The only problem is that it looks to have made it less matte, and is now a bit darker and shinier. Any suggestions of how to make this look better?

Try Flitz metal/plastic polish.

you could also try the forever black stuff that you can get at pepboys. It should die the bumper black again and that would smooth it all out.

I doubt alcohol is even necessary. Even a simple polish or 'paint cleaning' wax should remove it. Well, unless your wife's car is 25 years old and has no clear coat......
