Unhappy

Hi,

I have a problem with cleaning my rear window (tinted) on the inside.

I had to place on the rear window one of those temporary piece of paper they give you when you change your license plate. I already had one a while back and it came off very smoothly. This one for some reason left a lot of glue on the window. I tried to use some glass cleaner (that works with tinted windows) but there are still lots of glue streaks.

Any idea how to get rid of the glue wihtout scratching the tinting??

Thanks!!

Try goo gone (citris smelling kind). That will get ADHESIVE off, not glue.

Im assuming you meant the tape adhesive residue?

I got a razor blade handle from Home Depot and scraped the tinting and glue off while using windex to help lubricate the blade and cut through the sticky glue. Took me 1/2hr to do both windows.

kpjimmy, is that citrus thing for SURE ok on tinted windows?

MS6, the rasor idea with lubricating windex is pretty interesting! Can you explain a bit more what blade exaclty you used? How did you ensure it didn't scratch the tinting? I don't know if it's just mine, but it's pretty sensitive. I got scracthes when I was cleaning the windows with Windex, I guess some dirt was stuck on the cloth. Since then, I'm VERY paranoid about scratching the tinting. lol

Yes, I had in mind adhesive more than glue.

Sorry I'm a idiot I thought you were trying to remove the glue left behind from the tint, like you were trying to remove it all together for a ticket or something.

If your tint is scratching take it back to the place that did it and have them remove the glue. High quality tint shouldn't scratch at all so you may want to look a refund and go some place else. Also if you don't get a quality tint it will turn purple as time goes on.

Sorry for the bad info above hope this helps out.

Its ok man, dont worry about it.

The tinting was installed by the dealership, so its out of warranty (more than 3 years) and I dont know the shop that did it for them. So Ill leave it at that. If it bubbles, I will have the whole car redone.

Cheers.

Then yes I would think so... I have used it on my 6 and also on factory tint, in back of my Tribute. No adverse affects as of date .
