Well, just before I sold my old nissan I used some Turtle Wax wheel cleaner on my rims. Turns out that it turned my rims a white color. I don't want to make the same mistake on my speed6, so I was wondering what type of rim cleaner do you guys use? I have a bottle of Eagle wheel cleaner at home, but I haven't been brave enough to try it on them. lol. Anyone use the mother's powerball?

If your rims are painted and product says safe for all rims even painted then no problem, cleaned mine with Meguiar's Hot RimsŪ All Wheel Cleaner. Scrubbed a little but great results!! |

My advice - never use any product that is advertised as a "wheel cleaner". They all contain unnecessarily harsh chemicals. Wheel cleaners exist for one purpose - to put extra coin in the manufacturers purse.
Just use some regular car wax with cleaner like Meguiar's Gold Class. It will clean the wheels nicely and leave behind a wax coating to protect them and make cleaning easier next time. |

I don't use anything but a wet sponge then towel dry.... they get covered with brake pad dust so quickly anyways.

I just used a sponge this time. It's all I have used since my car only has 5500 miles on it. There are some places I can't get the caked on brake dust off of though. I didn't know those wheel cleaners harmed rims. So even Meguiar's Hot Rims cleaner is bad? Thought they made great stuff?

I'm a big fan of simple green too... works great and is non-toxic so you don't have to worry about any harsh chemicals.
I also found a spoke brush at walmart that fits perfrct between the sp6 rim spokes, which helps cut down on the bruised nuckles... |

I use a dedicated wheel sealant on my whels. Brake dust comes off with regular car wash after that.

It's Poorboy's Wheel Sealant. A Google search will find a vendor for you.
