So I have an 07' Onyx black 6i and it is THE BIGGEST pain in the ass to wash man! I literally spend 2hours washing this car for what? So that in 10min I can get a car full of god damn water spots!

I've tried drying it with a leaf blower but it's just not enough. I've also tried chamois but they seam to leave marks on the car. I read that mothers guide on the pinned section and it mentions something about micro fiber towels being the best. Anyone ever try these? And if they work - where can I purchase one and how much do they run for?

Any other advice would be great!

Thanks,
Kevin

i use cotten bath towels - made in america. get them from linens and things or bed, bath, and beyond. in my experience the trick to no water spots is drying the car fast and having enough towels so that you are not going back and forth over spots with a towel that is very moist. i use about 6 to 8 bath towels to dry the car, and i work fast. helps to have an slightly overcast day.

A lot of detailers recommend waffle-weave towels....I think they're a version of microfiber.

My sister uses a stack of regular-sized microfiber cloths to dry off her TSX, and although you have to use so many of them to get the car dry, they are very gentle to the paint.

I never liked to use a chamois as wringing it out repeatedly is such a pain. I would suggest buying a few microfiber towels (the big ones), or if you're not that picky, use some old bath towels that have been washed with fabric softener.

Waffle weave FTW! I also never wash my car in the sun because water dries too quick. Mornings, evenings, and in the shade are the best.

Never used the waffle weave but I love the MF towels to dry. It absorbs all the water to boot. Gets the windows nice and spot free, esp with the hard water in my area.

I'll look for those leggo my eggo waffle weaves next time. Wheres the best place to look? Can you find them in target/walmart? Or only the autozones and such?

I started with MF towels and the waffle weave works even better. I actually fold it up and flip flop sides to keep it as dry as possible. My waffle weave is Meguiars and I got it at Baxters Auto Parts, which has a huge selection of car wash and care products compared to other auto stores I've been to.

I've personally never seen waffle-weaves, but WalMart sells the big (and small) microfibers.
