Traded in my 2015 GT No Tech - White/Almond for
2016 GT White/Parchment No Tech wheel locks and all weather matts for $28,700 Today was the last day for the NY Auto show rebate. Im sure prices will eventually come down even more but happy with my deal.
I'm still not sure I like the floating dash/e-brake - but the other updates I really like. It is raining so they let me take the 2015 home and will swap them after work tomorrow, as it is going to be nice out I hope this was worth it LOL
I'm currently in the negotiation process for a 2016 Mazda 6 GT with Tech package and Mazda Mobile Start and the Door Sill plates as extras.
Subtotal after taxes, license transfer, documentary fee according to the line items was $33550.25. (Offered price was $31,522.00)
This is in central IL., so taxes are roughly 6.25%.
This was being dealt as a 'factory invoice' price since I work for a local big yellow company in the area.
I didn't think that after taxes and such that the 33550 looked too bad, but seems like I'm getting jacked on my trade to some extent.
I'll not state my trade other than another dealership offered $2500 more for it. And talking to a friend who is a used car dealer said on the low end they're at least $1000 off.
That is exactly what my window sticker states. $31,015 plus $200 for Pearl White and $55 for wheel locks.
What is s-plan vs. e-plan? I am pretty happy with my $28,700 which is 8.2% off the MSRP but how could I have received the e-plan $28,220? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Firstly, appreciate everyone sharing their buying experiences. Awesome tool for buyers still in negotiations. IMO it would be most helpful if all would list the negotiated price of the car including options. I don't understand the importance of this OTD pricing as every purchase will be different ie.. too many variables. The only thing not a variable is the negotiated price of the car (sales slip). Again IMO this is the most important factor. Taxes, title etc.. will vary.
Secondly - Based on recent previous post - Invoice pricing is available from multiple on-line sites such as cars.com - edmunds.com - trucar.com etc... in addition there are sites which state what the manufacturer holdbacks are on top of the invoice price. All this information if used in the ideal conditions can save you thousands off the price of a new car. Every new car on a dealers lot cost them money - so when neg - if the car you want is on the lot and you can take immediate delivery, this will work to your advantage. The variables are the problem ie... trades, interest rates based upon your credit, supply vs demand etc... Again this is just IMO from my research and buying experiences. I have found the information on this site invaluable during my buying process and just wanted to share. I hope this helps. Good Luck to all.
We are looking at purchasing a 2016 Manual Mazda 6 and I was very interested to read that prior post that B4TM4N had purchased an M6 2016! However a quick look at the headlights of his car (on his other post showing the mods) reveals it to be 2015. So with that in mind I think it's fair to mention that his purchase price may not apply to the 2016s, and that 2016 manual transmissions aren't being built yet as far as I know.
Believe me, we are waiting to even put a deposit on an order for the 2016 MT but at this point dealers are not able to even enter the build request for manual transmissions. I look forward to Mazda cranking out those manuals later this year!

B4TM4N's Mazda6 looks like a 2016 to me. The headlights are different on the GT model. If you look at the top of the dashboard of his car, it has the larger touch screen.
I just bought a 2016 Touring with MT as well...so I'm not sure why you were told they aren't being built. FWIW, I paid $23,360.
Just saw the pic of your car - I am a believer! I am going to go back and bug the dealers again. I actually talked to 4 dealers (I drive the San Diego / Orange County stretch) and they all told me that. Maybe a west coast thing??? In any case I am going to bang on doors again.
Not trying to get on B4TM4N's case but I would think it's a 2015 face - 1) no silver on grille 2) headlight shape 3) the wings on the Mazda logo seem to connect connect to the first slat, not the second... ?? Perhaps I don't understand something...
e-plan is available to Mazda employees. I included that price as a guideline for what would be considered an amazing deal. I feel that anything under $29,000 for a GT is a great deal.
I just bought a White GT (had the wheel locks and stainless steel rear bumper guard) yesterday. This is the best deal I could find (in Florida):
Selling price was $28,300 (after $500 rebate for using Mazda financing). Including the dealer fees it was $29,055. With 6% tax, new tags/registration, and $30 financing fee that brought it to $31,250. I opened a Chase checking account a week earlier and got the coupon code for $500 back as a Chase customer which then brought it down to $30,750. The minimum finance amount to get the $500 off was $8,000 and you have to make at least 3 payments without paying it off. So I financed the $8K and will pay it off on the 4th payment, yielding about $45 in interest payments. That brings my out the door price to about $30,800, which was good enough for me to pull the trigger yesterday. The dealer had to get the car from another dealer and did not charge me for that.
I'll get the windows tinted tomorrow and will then be ready to enjoy my first brand new car in 20 years. My son gets the 1997 Honda Civic I have been driving which is still in great condition appearance wise and mechanically.
I also took the $8k financing (was also told this was the minimum). I was planning on paying it off the first month. The salesman said "eh wait two or three months" but in a very non-committal way. When the finance guy was going over the paper work, I specifically asked and he specifically replied that there is no pre-payment penalty in NY. Is there an additional clause that talks about clawing back the $500 discount if the loan is paid back before four months?
I think you did great. I have the same car minus the stainless steel rear bumper guard. Have a question though, don't get the dealer fees? $755 for what. I paid $28,700 as the agreed selling price of the car. Was your agreed selling price $29,055? Either way, good luck hope your enjoying the smell of your new car!! Love that smell
Thanks. I had to work at it to get that price and while it wasn't as good as a few have mentioned, it was the best I could do in Florida. Most of the dealers still have some 2015's left on their lots and don't seem too interested in dealing on the 2016's yet - but after seeing the new dash layout and the updated infotainment from the 3, I knew that was the only choice for me.
The way I look at it, the selling price was essentially $29,055. If you were able to get your GT for $28,700 with only tax, title, and tag costs added then in my opinion you did exceptionally well.
The dealers here all have these "dealer fees" they add on (it was even part of the pre-printed purchase form so that it was a "hard" number) which seems to be the additional profit the build into every sale. So I approached things a bit differently. I figured out the cost of the title, tags, and sales tax for a car purchased at factory invoice and then added about $300 to that for doc stamps, profit, etc. That got me to a max price I was willing to pay of $31K out the door. Then I emailed and talked with various dealers to try and get that OTD price. So I never really discussed the selling price of the car because the dealer fees and other junk fees are so variable.
In the end, I found one dealer 100 miles from me who could come within about $250 of that price if I used the Mazda financing to get the $500 incentive. Then I found out that I could open a Chase account and get another $500 back, so that got me to a couple hundred under my max OTD price. I lucked out with the bumper guard and wheel locks because they just happened to be on the car that the dealer was able to trade for, so they were a little bonus.
I spoke with a dealer in Florida when I was doing my search for a Touring with MT and discovered that Florida has incredibly high doc fees. You have to account for that when negotiating the sales price.
2016 Mazda6 GT
Tech Package
Deep Crystal Blue
Black Interior
Mazda Mobile Start
List price was shown as $33,195
Offered Price is $31,522
They have a MFR Rebate on it for $302
Documentary Fee $166
Transfer License Fee $145
Taxes $1980.50
Mazda Mobile Start $550
If you are willing to finance $8K or more through Mazda you can knock off $500 from that and you can pay it off in four months so there is very little interest charged. In addition you can open a Chase bank account and get a coupon code good for another $500 off which is also tied to the financing.
Just got a final quote on a 2016 Meteor Gray/Black GT / no tech . . . OTD: $30,560 - That includes taxes, fees, and accessories (window tinit, cargo net, trunk mat, alloy pedals).
Great price! That is certainly better than I was able to do. What is your sales tax rate? I just got my windows tinted the other day and that was another $350 added to my cost.
I bought 2016 GT meteor gray with tech package and parchment for $31,000 OTD including registration, taxes, other dealer fees, and few accessories. currently put 200 miles on the first day and half!
Just got a price of 21,899 plus tt+l for a 2016 Touring Automatic. The sales guy then quoted me 25440.72 DO (after taxes and fees). Switch and bait sales tactics? How does fees and taxes in Texas (Houston) come out to 3541.72 on 21899? The going rate here is roughly about 7.25% in fees and taxes give or take a few hundred. First time buying a new Mazda, and from what I can remember reading on the forums, Mazda dealers like to be alittle unethical to get as much out of you. This is definitely not the first time for me buying a new car. Am I missing something?
Got a follow up email from the salesguy that he did not include destination charges (~820) on the 21899 price. Who does this? price you quote should include this, only taxes and other fees are quoted separately.

Car Salesman .. that's who. Just make sure when you buy that the sales slip... the carbon copy slip they give you to sign.... just like any sales slip for anything has the price of the car on it. If they are charging you destination it has to be on there.. if not on there.. you don't pay it. Good Luck
I'm going to start talking to my local dealer tomorrow and see what they can do for pricing on a 2016 GT. I haven't really settled on color yet - but they have silver and black on the lot, and I'm hoping the black gives me some leverage. (I'd like to see if they'll add a remote starter as well.)
One of the other dealerships is advertising $29,500 with their "dealer discount" on a Dark Blue Crystal '16 GT. I'm sort of setting that as my soft goal; if I can get below that, I'm thinking I scored a decent deal. No sales tax in NH!
I was leaning toward extended warranty coverage, though - that 36K won't get me through the first three years. We'll see what options they have for me.
