I am wondering how much my car is worth today?

Description:

2006 Mazdaspeed 6 GT. Purchased new in November 2005. 17,000 miles. Nearly new Toyo T1R tires, stock size.

Entire car is bone-stock; no modifications.

Moonroof. No NAV. No Sirius. Liquid Platinum Metallic with Black Leather.

Slight parking lot ding on driver's side fender well on rear quarter panel; slight parking lot ding driver's side front fender well; otherwise excellent condition.

15,000 service was performed on schedule at Mazdaspeed-authorized dealer where vehicle was originally purchased. Service manager remarked that vehicle seemed to be 'in virtally new condition.' (Guess he didn't notice small dings/scratches mentioned above).

I'm no expert, but it seems to me that the fact that these cars were, and still are, slow-sellers on new car lots would decrease the value of my car. It also seems to me that today's French-perfume - like gas prices would likewise decrease the value, since the MS6 is not exactly a mileage champ.

So. How much is my car worth as:

1. A trade-in

2. As a car for sale on a late-model used car lot.

3. As a car for sale privately by the owner, with no dealer involved.

Take it to CarMax. My guess is about $16K is the best you are going to do. They offered me $21K with a 5500 mile GT w/roof.

kbb is a joke, that price is worthless. Edmunds is a little better, the Black Book is what the dealers use.

Yeah... I LOVE my speed6... but I will NEVER own another mazda in my life... the 5000+ in rebates for new customers... COMPLETELY FUCKED those of us who paid 30+ for the car... A vehicle is never an investment.. but no vehicle i've ever owned... or know anyone to own.. has ever dropped from 36k sticker.. to 26k sticker.. to 21k after rebates.. within the first year of release... Those who were in the market for a new car in the first 3-6 months of release got SHAFTED huge... mazda should have offered the 5k rebate to all customers... if they expect to keep any of them...

I can't imagine anyone who paid 30k for the speed6.. which is what they cost in those first few months... to ever consider mazda again... when they go to sell/trade the speed6 and get 5-10k LESS than real value because of mazda...

I paid 32,000 OTD for mine over a year ago now... Fully loaded GT... Any other vehicle... valued at 32,000 OTD... would currently be worth (with 17,000 miles)... around 25,000ish... but nope... 32,000 dollar car... 17,000 miles... year and half old... worth 15-19,000.... over 5,000 less than it should be.... FUCK MAZDA... yes i'm pissed....

Shit happens.. live and learn... Top Gear put it best... Mazda.. isn't a vehicle you "want" to own... its something you come across one way or another... Those aren't their exact words... and i'm sure many on this forum are die-hard mazda > all types.... But honestly... I don't think one person here can say that mazda cares one bit about their existing customers when they started those huge rebates... They should have NO run 2007 models... and just sat on the speed6's waiting for them to sell....

You don't build a quality image or "luxury" standards like BMW... or Benz... or Lexus... by fucking over your existing customers... and trying to sell vehicles WAY under value just to get them gone...

you want to talk about being f'ed over.....I can buy an 2006 Mercedes S65amg that was $180,000 last year, for $93,000 now with around 12,000 miles on it. The people who buy the ultra-lux cars like these are the ones getting really screwed. You dont buy cars and expect to hold the value in them.
Mazda is just doing what it had to to get rid of the cars - just like any manufacture does when a particular model is not selling as expected. Every manufacture will keep increased the rebates and incentives until the model year is gone.

The S65 is my next car....going to get a 2 year old one in a couple years for around $65000 and sell the MS6 and maybe the GTO. I cant wait.
