What Japan considers Mazdaspeed is not what we consider Mazdaspeed here stateside. If it's anything like the the first gen Atenza, Mazdaspeed A-spec (JP) versions are just cosmetic changes and no drivetrain upgrade. Unlike what we consider the USDM Mazdaspeed which is a late model release with cosmetic and drivetrain upgrades.

Recall the JDM 03/04 Mazdaspeed Atenza:

Mazda may be forced to change their American definition of a Mazdaspeed vehicle where the 6 is concerned. To up the ante' significantly from the upcoming 6, they've pretty much have to slap two turbos on the new V6 and that could potentially produce some pretty considerable hp numbers. A car like that would be a high-dollar competitor to BMW and the like, and I'm not sure Americans would spend that kind of cabbage on a Mazda. And God forbid they route all that power through the front wheels. Their roadblocks to such a car are many.

My prediction for any upcoming MS6 is that it'll be body, interior and suspension only. A better looking, better handling Altima SE-R.
