Practicing:

The duplicates are where I upped the ante a bit (obviously.) I had a very small window to capture this color, as the sun was setting behind the mountains opposite of where I was shooting. I watched the color on the clouds go from orange/pink to gray/blue in a matter of seconds...which was when I knew I was done, lol.

For higher res, here's the gallery. Enjoy.

What are you using to 'assemble' the final images? CS3 or CS4? Photomatix? 1,5,7 and 9 look fantastic!

I use Paintshop Pro Photo X2 for both the photo merging and editing, start to finish. I really dislike photomatix's approach to HDR and beyond those two I haven't tried any other program.

Thanks 8D

I know what you mean about the Photomatix. I have seen some good results with it, but for the most part, the pics look unnatural. The ones I've seen with CS3 or CS4 have looke pretty good, but I can't justify the cost of the software. I've tried to do a few in PSE6, with limited success. Again, nice job!

I'll have to look up what CS3/4 can do, because I've never really bothered to look that way once I saw the cost, hahaha. There are ways to do HDR with Photoshop but I never cared for the program to begin with...I just got lucky trying out this version of Paintshop; easy for me to understand and pretty powerful.

always love your pics man, I wish I could spend an hour with you to get some tips. Have you ever gone to dpchallenge.com? you can enter weekly for photo contests, purely for fun. It's kinda cool, I never did all that well but it got me out there taking pictures.

Questions if you dont mind:

Detail your rig for us

Do you auto bracket or do you have ot adjust manually between

How many stops do you bracket/how many images are these compiled from

What is your work flow like, all auto or do you do a lot of manual adjustments, if manual what do you find has the most impact.

I'd rather replace my brakes than my engine, so other than the occasional heel/toe downshift I don't put the stress on the engine of compression braking. It's not a diesel.
"I know right? Engine braking...thats crazy. Holy crap though...can you imagine engine acceleration? Jeezus. I'm glad I don't do that!"
