Yes, after 25 years of living the life of a Submarine Sailor, I've decided to retire (of course, with the concurrence of my wife).

If you just happen to be in the area in the middle of July, I would like to extend an invitation to you to join the family and I at my retirement ceremony.

Here's the details:

Date: July 17th
Time: 1:00 PM
Place: Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport (just outside the base gate, in front of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC))
Attire: Anything you are comfortable in (I know my brother(s) plan on wearing Aloha Shirts and flip-flops just for the hell of it).

It would be kinda cool to have a simultaneous meet too!

If the zombie outbreak happens, you'll wish you still had that submarine!

Congrats on the retirement! Perhaps I will take a trip up I-5.

Well...

I started my retirement leave yesterday. When it is all totaled up....I have 125 days. I didn't think I'd be nervous about my upcoming retirement. However, as I packed up the stuff from my desk and locker on Friday, it hit me. I don't have to wake up early on Monday, rush to the gym, to muster a bunch of people who don't want to be there. I don't have to worry about getting to the office on time, that my uniform is squared away, or worry about what surprise knee-jerk reaction is looming around the corner. Wait...this is all I've known for a quarter of a century.

The damn Honey-do list now awaits.

Hey congrats man! Good luck on adjusting to civi life! Are you going to try to enter the workforce on the other side after you get bored with just doing honey-do stuff? Hey, and you could remod your car! Want your inserts back?

So if there's going to be a meet along your ceremony thing, I think I'd be able to go...

Congrats on serving and protecting our country for nearly half of my life lol.

I'm about to send my 18 year old son who will be graduating HS in a week to the Navy and he has passed a written pre-test to be admitted into the submarine program. He ships off for Great Lake Illinois for basic training on July 14th.

Can you give me any advise to pass along to my son concerning submarine duty? He'll be stoked if he knew a fellow 6'er just retired from submaine service!

Thanks again for your tour of duty to serve our country.
