I'm new to the Portland metro area (specifically Tualatin) and I'm looking for something to do on July 4th. Anyone got any ideas?

Downtown Portland and Fort Vancouver have big fireworks shows. I usually avoid them because crowds and traffic can be a royal bitch.

Ft vancouver has an awesome display, usually around an hour of fireworks set to music. but parking and traffic are a bitch. if you go, get there early and then plan on sitting in traffic afterwards...you'll also have to sit on the ground/grass, so bring a blanket and rain gear(if its going to rain) - no cover at all there. there is a lot of musical enterainment(no necessarily good) and food, but nothing much else to do except wait for the fireworks and chat and people watch...so yeah, kind of boring unless you bring some friends.
