I remember a great meet up at Mt. St. Hellens we had over a year ago and I'd be great to have another (or something similar). My friends and I don't mind driving (we're at OSU)... but no way we're heading up to seattle or whatever for just a normal meet. Sorry.

OSU as in Oregon State? I was just up the road at Western Oregon in college. Now that the weather is getting nice I'm sure the Portland area 6ers will want to have a meet around Portland also.

If there's a meet in portland I'm down. Wife has friends down there that we could stay with and make a weekend out of it as long as they're ok with it.

How do you figure? Don't feel like driving 3+ hours and 100's of miles... to spend an hour talking about cars with ppl. There is a weekly meet in portland (every other thursday is PIR and the OTHER thursdays is at Sonics or something)... Thats still hour and half drive (so 3 hours of driving total) but probably worth it...

The point I was trying to make was... someone organizing a park in a lot and stand around for few hours... isn't worth our gas and miles. However, a meet like the one at St. Hellens was well worth it... Nice sunny day, great pictures, Beautiful mountains...

After living in the LA area for the last 2 years... I've gotten "burnt out" on just small little parking lot gatherings... Honestly pretty boring after a while.

I put 400-500 miles on my car doing a meet south of Vegas... But that was a huge planned out drive with lots going on. Mostly worth it! =)

:EDIT:

And if you still think what I said wasn't cool... What is your response to "We are having a meet in corvallis... All of you Washington people come on down!!!!!"

Yeah, exactly.. you guys aren't gonna drive down to corvallis/OSU for a meet lol... Its fuckin far. And the meet would mostly suck.

ANYWAY! Hopefully see some mazdas at PIR and the other place on thursdays... we're gonna check it out next week see if its worth anyones attention or not.

:EDIT

Fuck, Thursdays are my league basketball nights.

EDIT: Yeah, As much as I would love to go to meets, gas and time cost me too much money to go to some.

The point of my comment wasn't to piss you off or to evoke such a response. I questioned your post because I was wondering what in the world does a drive at Mt. St. Helens have to do with Seattle? Why make a comment like that? IMO...the two locations have nothing to do with each other, and moreso...the comment has no place in this thread. You took an opportunity to poke at those who reside in the Seattle area and I didn't quite appreciate it.

While I agree with you gas is costly, long distances eat up a large amount of your driving day, and parking lot meets are less exciting than a drive in the mountains...why make such a statement about others who choose to meet in a parking lot and talk cars? And for the record, the last Seattle area meet was in a park, with a parking lot, a BBQ, and a drive (which ckings can vouch for).

And to answer your question, yes - I would drive to Corvallis if I could clear my sked. I've driven to Portland on several occasions without complaint, and wouldn't have a problem driving a bit further.

If it would make you feel better, I will edit and withdraw my post. And if you would like to continue this discussion, let's do so via PM - I have no further desire to taint this thread and the invitation to meet for a drive.

awww man......I clicked this thread hoping the mountain was gonna explode again......

I'll be living in Bend, Or starting June 1st. I'd be willing to make an occasional drive to Portland, and be down for a larger meet in the PNW sometime though.

i really have no problem driving that far for a meet either. hell i drive over 2 hours to aloha oregon just to buy parts for my car. ive drivin several times to portland for meets or shows. for the past 3 years ive commuted over 1 hour each way just for work. so driving really doesnt concern me much.

Yeah, but its less about distance... and more about quality. Sure if 400-500 cars are gathering... its worth a drive. But when 3-5 ppl park in a parkinglot... Its not really worth the hours and hours of driving.

I wouldn't have any sort of meet or gathering in or around corvallis/OSU anyway. Unless its about saving the rainforest or something.. the cops are HUGE fucking douchebags here... I had some dumbass on a Bicycle try to "pull me over". I mean are you KIDDING? Like I'm going to stop for some cop chuggin along on a bike lol.

I mean, MAYBE if I had done something wrong I'd consider it...

Anywhoo... Back to topic... Sadly it looks like there aren't enough mazda type people active on here to make anything happen. Oh well, was worth a try... I'll go with my roomie to the Nissan type meets and see if they are any good.
