Well I decided I'm finally ready to learn to ride a motorcycle so I signed up to take my rider safety course. I wanted to get some time on a bike a little bit before taking the course so I wouldn't look to stupid. I had never been on a bike before let alone start one. I researched good beginner bikes and decided that I didn't want to start with a 250 because it seemed that most people outgrew those pretty fast. So I decided on a Suzuki SV 650s. I hunted around a little bit and I found one right near me for the best price. It's a 07 with 6k on the ODO. It was owned by a girl who dropped it on herself going like 7mph and just didn't have the balls to ride any more....the rash on the bike is barely noticeable and since I'm new I'm sure I'll drop it once or twice myself.
It's definitely a different feeling than driving in me MS6 but wow is it a lot of fun. I haven't even gotten past 3rd gear yet since I'm still learning. My friend is teaching me and he's been riding for years and he's a great teacher. I do all my learning in a parking a lot away from any cars. I'm excited to take my course and to finally get out there on the road, if any of you experienced riders here want to chime in with any tips def. go for it, I can use all the help I can get. Anyway here's my new girl I could only take a couple pics since it started raining.

Slap the GT35R on that bitch :P Since you are the beginer,so ride careful ,keep your distance between you and the car infront and always pays attention for vehicles around you... since 80% of ppls on the Road have no respect for bikers.... Bikes are fun ,but also dangerous , All i can say is have fun but don't do stupid stuff on public roads way... here is mine :The silver one ![]() ![]() ![]() My other bike : http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.ph...topic=78619&hl=

ohhh man a 636! nice bike, my friend is looking for that same one at the moment. He's having a hard time finding an 05 for 5k around here, he's trying to get one shipped from FL as a last resort. I definitely don't plan on doing anything crazy on the roads. I think I'm really going to enjoy it for the turns and back twisty turns. QUOTE (bmorrisj @ Apr 6 2009, 05:35 PM) Quote:
why did you have to get rid of your bike?

SV650's are great bikes. Especially for a first timer. Glad you took the course. A lot of people don't realize how much is involved in being a good motorcycle rider. Stay safe out there and get to know your machine really well.
BTW, here is mine and I'm a MSF RiderCoach as well. |

gotcha and I understand, I work at an ER so I've talked to few ppl who have wrecked and told me they would never ride again, some seriously injured and others who just had a little bit of road rash. I respect your decision. Did you guys add exhausts to your bikes? Luckily mine came with Yosi pipe which made the V-twin sound much much better. I picked my bike up for 3900 so I thought it was pretty good price for this bike. I'm going to take my time driving on this bike. Even at slow speeds it's the best feeling in the world and I don't want to ruin that.

ahh its not that i dont want to ride, most ppl i know heavily discourage it, now i can use my left arm/hand... plus i dont have the duckets to go out and buy another one. i would get a cbr f4i 99-01 or a newer SV650S, like yours.
my mods: 2005 zx-6r, plasma blue akro slip-on pipe power commander, dyno tuned for the pipe, around ~114whp/49wtq accelerator pump feature enabled on power commander (think carb accel pump) speedo healer -1 front sprocket, 0 rear sprocket, gold chain GPR V1 damper gold vortex rearsets gold crg long levers zero gravity double bubble windscreen smog delete fender deleted rear fender VFX tail light, thing was like $300, flipping awesome, you cant get them any more and i just sold mine. VFX animated front turn signals, also enabled running lights/signals weighted bar ends to reduce vibes and helps your hands last longer from going numb solo cowl 2CT tires every 4-5k oil changed every 2-3k

wow you put a lot of love into you're bike. I've sat on a lot of newer CBR 600 rr's and boy those are some nice bikes. If I eventually get better and want to upgrade my bike I think I'm going to go with that bike. It's so damn light compared to some bikes I've sat on. My only problem is the roads here are really really crappy, VT doesn't ever seem to want to fix their roads. I would hate to go down on a more expensive bike.
