Oh no! An American pushrod-engined RWD beats a techno-savvy AWD Japanese supercar? Say it ain't so...

I believe I saw an indicated 178 MPH, when he wasn't trying to keep the car from going sideways through the turns...

dont hear much supercharger if any. but he hit 179 mph on the back straight.

Insane! I so want to do that, and I would take the Corvette over the GT-R any day. Damn I love the sound of American V8 pushrod power.

I guess I was watching the scenery go by too fast to keep an accurate eye on the speed...

I never did get the GT-R/ZR1 comparisons. A fair comparison would with a V-spec Skyline, if Nissan ever launches one. All the more reason for Nissan to release another Spec Nur version of the Skyline?

The scary part is that I think the ZR1 can go faster. I can see a couple of spots where Jim Mero could gain some time, and he knows it. There are some spots in video where you can see him react with his hands in frustration - body language that say, "Damn, I could've nailed that better." He was a little bit slideways at one point, and that robs some seconds as well. I read somewhere that without the strong headwind, they could've gone faster on the straight. The fun part is counting how many times he was airborne. I counted five.

Oh that is beautiful. I agree though. It could be faster which is just even more ridiculous. So it holds the fastest time of a production car?
