One thing I've noticed since I've been on this board is that there seems to be a fair share of people who have previously owned a Ford Probe. To this day, I miss this car...after I was done with it, it rode like a go-cart but it handled like crazy. Just an all around fun little car.
I decided I'd like to see who all falls into that category, what MAJOR mods they did to their car and ask them to post pictures if they have them. Me...forgive me for the lack of brand names but it's been awhile since I owned the Probe. 1995 Probe GT V6 / 5 Speed Lowered, rear sway bar upgrade, rear strut tower bar, b-pillar support bar, Dynomax exhaust, cold air intake, gutted rear interior (as you'll see in the pic)....lots more but they don't fall into the major category. Here are a couple of pictures... ![]()

Yup... owned one and still do.
Sold my first 93 GT back in 2001 but last year I got another probe (95 GT) to work on and bring back from the dead. Big overpriced mistake. Next time I do a project it will be with a running car instead.Rolling w/KLZE, Greddy, Catco cat, ACT stage 3 6-puck, MX3 FW, Tuned ZE chip for stock ecu, Probe addiction CAI... and more. Need to paint and put the stock body kit back on. But I will probably sell it soon as I don't get to drive it much and it's taking up space in my driveway. Plus I wouldn't mind getting a lot more done to the 6. |

Nice power setup on that Probe of yours....sounds like what I wanted to do with mine but couldn't afford it.

I still technically own my 94 Probe GT, but im gifting it to my brother soon since he needs a car. The thing still runs fairly well but needs paint job badly heh. I love the handling in that car for sure.

man...that makes me miss my car. I had a red '95 Probe GT as well....looks just like yours, although I didn't have the rear wing & I had black interior.I still seriously miss that car....it was my 2nd car & 1st stick...an early college graduation present from my parents. Great looks, great handling, awesome exhaust note, reliable & with the hatch, could fit all sorts of stuff....all at a completely reasonable price. I got mine in mid-'95 for $17K...loaded. The other car I was looking at was a Corrado VR6...for $26K The only mods I made...and I'm not sure I'd even call this a mod...was a K&N drop-in filter. I sold it 2.5 yrs later for a '97 Jetta GLX VR6...another awesome fun car...but also the reason I'll never buy another VW.

I leased a 93 626ES and owned a 96 626ES, both with 5-speeds and V6's. The 96 had F/R STB's, Tokico 5-ways, Eibachs, then 95 PGT springs after the Eibach's got tiring. The wheels were 16x7 DP's with 225/45r16's.
It handled very well, without losing the verstility of having a 4-door. Old pix of Bruce are at my cardomain site My new 6s is there, too, on the later pages. alex

I had a 97 GT and had only redone the stereo before it was totalled
It was such a fun car. My dad still owns his at the time new 93 GT despite it having one foot in the grave now. I still drive it from time to time for nostalgia and I'm constantly pleased by it's handling.

Hehe. When I saw this thread, I figured you guys were talking about the 1st gen Probes which were based on a Mazda platform and represented one of the first times that an American manufacturer sold a Japanese-based car but put their own body on the chassis. Was the 2nd gen Probe based on a Mazda platform, too? (I can't remember.)
Anyway, I owned an 89 Ford Probe LX (4-cyl model - no turbo). It was my first new car I owned and replaced a used Ford Fiesta (not Festiva! ). I loved my Probe - great mileage, great cargo capacity, great ergonomics. After buying my 6 Wagon (there's that cargo-carrying capability again), I remembered that my Probe had basically been a Mazda and felt like I had come home again. ![]() I finally sold the Probe in 2000 when I bought a used Saab 900SE for a very good price from my brother. I loved driving that Saab but hated the fact that it had stranded me 2.5 times. So, when the extended warranty expired, I went shopping and ended up in my 6. Mitch |
