Bought a 2007 Mazda6 with V6; it ran sluggish at first, but after a half hour on back roads, it opened up, almost ran off the road! Cool how the power comes on, almost unpredictable. Fun in traffic too, leaves 'em in the dust. One problem-mysterious coolant leak, no one can solve. I think it's the waterpump but only while running. Can smell coolant when I get out of the car, but cannot see any coolant under the engine. 65,00 miles. Nice car!

Welcome to the forum!
A very widely known problem with our cars is the Coolant T fitting breaking/leaking - that's the first place to check for coolant leaks - have you checked there?

Not the T Coolant Piece; No such luck, I checked. In repair attempt #1 , I also eliminated the 2 hoses up to the intake, and added extra hose clamps next to the newfangled stock clamps.
I think it's either the water pump or the plastic temp switch housing. Buying parts now for repair attempt #2 . Thanks! |
