Hey guys, I know there is another recent thread on this exact subject, but I did not want to thread jack on my specific situation.

Basically I just bought my 04 Mazda.
It came with only 1 key, and no key fob.
I would like another key, and at least 1 key fob.

I am wondering what is the key fob style that actually came with my car. From what I can see, it is not the style where the key folds inside the fob. It is a normal older style.
Did it have a button for popping the trunk on it? I was searching on ebay, and did not see that. Just lock/unlock/alarm, it looked like.
Maybe I was looking at the wrong remote.

My questions:
With 1 key, will I be able to order keys from the dealer or online, and have them cut, then program them myself? Online pricing looked to be about 10 dollars a key. If so, where do I find the proper procedure to follow?

Could I use the newer style of key/fob with my car? This would be nice, as I like the new design. Where would I be able to order one? Dealer? Maybe a member on here?
Is it possible to program my key fob with only one key for the car? Is there a guide on here for this?

That's the stock keyfob for the 03-05 sedans.

You can also buy a new case and rubber pad insert for the keyfob on ebay cheap to make it look brand new, buy the used ones for the circuit board only.

That's all I can help you with, I am in the EXACT same situation as you, 1 key no fobs. Dealer wants an arm and a leg to cut and program everything. You can get new keys and have them cut pretty cheap as far as I know, the programming is the issue.

I have read some threads on here explaining the programming process, and I am still a bit confused myself. From what I gathered, you need atleast one fob in order to program another, I could be wrong though!
