Hey guys my name is Mitch.
I have a small arsenal of vehicles, and am about to add another Mazda to the fleet. The vehicle is an 04 Mazda 6. It has the 3.0 and is standard. It seems to be pretty well loaded from the pictures, and I will be going to look at it tonight. The Pre-cat in the car went by the wayside and the engine took the brunt of it. From what the seller has said, it sounds like the pistons look like the surface of the moon. I'm looking to purchase the car in order to replace my current high mile daily driver. I've been calling around to local wreckers, and found a long block that may work for me. It's a 3.0 from a 2008 fusion. It is mated to an auto transmission. So this is where my first question comes into play. Can I just swap the flex plate for the flywheel from my blown motor, then slap the standard tranny on this new motor? I understand there are many, many guides on what other parts need to be swapped, and I look forward to doing my research on these things before I purchase anything. If the rest of the car checks out ok, I am looking to purchase it and a long block by the end of the week. Also, I am interested in learning options for headers so I can ditch those Pre-cats. If there are no decent budget or used options, I will probably core out the cat's. We don't really have emissions here, but fuel economy would be somewhat of importance. I have flipped through the classifieds, and will do so some more. But I want to say, if anyone has a long block in North America, I'm pretty interested, and would love to hear from you! (post here, or PM). On to me: From Manitoba, Canada. I am a construction worker. I love turnin' wrenches. 21 years old. Daily--Saturn sc1 mpg king. Family Car--08 Mazda 6. JDM(lol) Whip--92 lancer Evo RS. I am looking forward to being part of the Mazda community and trying to help out where I can. |

Found this thread I believe it confirms I can use an auto motor with my standard transmission and wiring harness.
3.0l engine interchangable between ATX & MTX? It's too bad about the 50 post count requirement with making a wanted to buy ad. Is there anyone I can talk to about this? I can prove I'm a legit guy, over 200 posts on many, many forums, including a local forum with people who could vouch for me. So basically my understanding is that I can swap the flex plate for a flywheel and just use the proper flywheel bolts and I'm good to go. Mitch |

Welcome to 6club from a fellow canuck.
As justsomeguy said there is no way around posting in the classifieds until you hit that 50 post mark. It really doesnt take long. Surely you have something to contribute. Please not that spamming threads to hit your 50 posts will not be tolerated. Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com Free App

I understand that spamming threads is not going to get me anywhere, and so I will not.
My problem with obtaining 50 posts etc is just that I would like to obtain a motor sooner than later. A wanted to buy ad would really help me support the community if someone has a spare long block. But I will not press on this issue again. Thanks for the welcoming everyone, and I'll post a build thread up when the car is in my garage. |

Hey man welcome to the club!!!! Where about in Manitoba are ya?
As far as your fusion questions go, yes auto and manual blocks are the same. unbolt the flex plate and the flywheel bolts right on. Wiring harness.... your good to go with reusing the one in your car. I've never had a problem. I have done 3 fusions swaps so far so feel free to ask any questions.

I am from Brandon Manitoba. I purchased the car tonight. I picked it up for two thousand dollars. I will head onto the laptop and start my build thread along with some pictures right away. A local wrecker has a motor with 40k on it for 900 bucks. A wrecker in Ontario has one with 96k that they will ship to me 700 total. Any opinions? Are these fair prices on a bare long block? Mitch |

Are you talking just the block by itself? You should be able to get the complete engine for that.
Sounds like a good deal if you can get it on the road for $3,000. Looking forward to seeing a build thread from you. Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com Free App
