Actually its my wife's car

We just picked up an '06 6i sport for her on saturday. Everything seems good with the car so far and a few guys at work have 6's so they were able to answer most of my questions. However her car has something that theirs doesn't and its driving me crazy. On the headliner just behind where the maplights and sunroof buttons are there is a plastic panel. It looks like a dummy switch cover, but I can't figure out what might have gone there.

Any ideas?

Hey Spdy

I have an 08 6i and there is a sunglass holder on mine between the sunroof buttons and the rearview mirror. Its a little drop down compartment. Maybe on some trim models they just used a plastic cover? Just a guess.

I have that, too on my 07 6i SVE. IDK what the hell it could be. I don't have a sunroof either.

Yeah she has the sunglass holder too but thats not what I am actually talking about. I will try to go take a picture tonight. Its actually behind all of that stuff as in closer to the rear of the vehicle. I thought it was some sort of an access panel for the sunroof but my friend has a sunroof as well and his doesn't have it.

Even vehicles without the moonroof have that piece there. I would say it's to cover an access to manually close the moonroof incase of a power failure, but since all 6s have it then idk what it's for.

My friends 2004 6i doesn't have it and he does have a moonroof, so not all 6's have it. Maybe they added the panel during the redesign for 2006.

My 08 does not have it. I have (I believe) a factory installed sunroof. Mines a 6i VE ATX for what it worth.

Welcome to the forums! I believe you are looking at the dummy plate for where a microphone would go for hands-free

I don't have that. I have a 2007 6i SVE with no sunroof.
