Hi: my 2003 2.3L Mazda6 is giving me an engine code: P2187 which says: Fuel Temperature Sensor B Circuit Low Input. What do I need to replace or fix to eliminate this code? What can be the problem? My engine sometimes losses rpm's and acts like if it's going to turn off but it has never done it. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

It can be one of two things.

1. If you have an intake, whether its cold air or short ram, you might have an intake leak. Check all you connections and make sure everything is fitting right.

2. If you haven't modded your car then your purge valve might be gone like mine was in the summer. There's a TSB for the purge valve: MIL ILLUMINATION, P0171/P0172/P0441/P0442/P0455/P0456/P2177/P2178/P2187/P2188 -> Link: http://www.finishlineperformance.com/mazda...052-06-1606.pdf

You have to hook it up to an OBD-II scanner. That will pull the code for the cel.

so my car pulled that CEL a few days ago. wel actually i dont know. ive had a emssions CEL and noticed this P2187 when I was gonna clear the emssions. Well anyways how do I know which problem i got. From what I read it could be Fuel Temperature Sensor B Circuit Low Input or a To lean at idle. How can i narrow it down to what it could be?

I've been getting the p2187 code now too. It's been too darn cold for me to take a look under the hood. I have a feeling mine is probably just an air intake leak. The code gets thrown twice one day and then not for a couple days.

Hi peeps: my scanner reads: (P2187) Fuel Temperature Sensor B Circuit Low Input. So I changed the purge selenoid valve and and after 2 days, the cel came back to haunt me. A got a new MAF sensor, and after a day, it came back to haunt me. So I dont know, what can the problem be? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

P2187 is "Too lean at idle". I had that code when I had my AEM intake. This code is caused because the AEM intake is too large for the 06+ PZEV/ULEV throttle body (55mm) compared to the old 60mm throttle body. Try and reduce the inside pipe diameter around the MAF a bit and it will solve your code. I had P2187 with my AEM intake until I made an insert for the pipe to reduce the diameter around the MAF. I made the insert slightly larger than stock.
