I was doing some research on TireRack.com and this set of tires seems the best way to go, according to "them". I tried researching the Bridgestone website and the database informed me that they don't have any tires designed to fit the vehicle so that totally kills my idea.

So, I'm a bit confused (as always!) and I was hoping if anyone knew if I could simply swap out the tires I have on my car now (Michelin's, I believe) with these tires?

-Thank you in advance!

-Anthony

The RE960AS comes in a 215/50ZR17XL size with a 95 load index, which would be an exact fit for the Mazda6 if you have the 17" wheels; and Tire Rack lists that size in stock. However, for the princely sum of $1.00 (one dollar) per tire more from the same source you could purchase Yokohama ADVAN Sport 205/55R17 tires, which also fit the 17" wheels, and it would be like getting a fine filet mignon for the price of a chuck end roast.

OTOH, if your Mazda6 has the 16" wheels (and assuming that you do not want to purchase new wheels at this time), check out the Dunlop SP Sport 01 in either the 215/55R16 or the 225/55ZR16 size (the latter is listed on Tire Rack under Dunlop SP Sport 01A, but it is the 01, not the 01A, that most likely will get shipped to you).

I considered the pole positions, but ultimately decided that I would rather pay less for a different tire (the Ecsta ASX) and replace the tire sooner than worry about stretching the pole position lifes to justify the price.

Filet Mignon, eh?! Haha, that's one way of putting it.

I do have 17" wheels, btw!

It didn't seem like the Yokohama faired as well with some of the user reviews... ??? My area does not get much snow, but once in awhile we might and I took that into consideration. It looks as though the Bridgestone does a decent job. I really want a quality tire, I like the rating for both as far as handling and grip... but I noticed the Yokohama received a 0 for traction in snow/ice, any thoughts?

-Thanks for the input though, definitely sheds more light on how and what to upgrade my 6 with!

V/R,

Anthony

The user reviews section of Tire Rack is for entertainment value only; don't take the reviews too seriously. Nothing prohibits a tire distributor from logging in (hundreds of times under hundreds of aliases) and praising a tire he has too much of in stock. Of the real reviews there, you have no idea of the reviewer's experience level or what he or she is comparing his tire to. And look at how many of the reviewers base their review on a couple days and couple miles of driving.

As for snow traction, any tire that is optimized for wet braking (as the Yokohama ADVAN Sport is) necessarily will have snow traction somewhere between crappy and none. The reverse is also true.

Excellent Point!

OK, I need to do some research.... SO MANY things I want to do to the car, including a new CAI and a few other mods - nothing noticeable though.

Thanks again for all your help!
