I agree, but I also thank all those who have helped make this post as large as it is. Reading the posts have helped me get some ideas rolling. As for me, I have a Glacier White 2006 6i that I've had for a month and put in a CAI, have taken off the pinstripes on the sides, and have taken off the Mazda emblem on the back and centered up the 6 emblem. As for things to come, well, in the near future a new sub to replace the Bose sub (on it's way). I got a Polk MM840DVC replacement and can't wait to install it. Other than the sub, my next mods will be the strut tower bar and then front and rear sway bars. Any other ideas? Thanks to all.

Default Tranny thoughts

So i am a total car nut, grew up racing cars in high school in japan back in the day. I have a 2.3L 2004 5-door. Love the car. It has the automatic sport tranny in it though, and i am thinking of swapping it out with a manual. Mainly cause i am looking at tossing a turbo onto it as well to get giggy and have some more fun than i already have in it. Or does anyone think the slap shifting auto could handle it and so on. Any thoughts on the subject?

Question

Just got my 2006 Mazda 6i 2.3 IL4 ATX and wanted some ideas as far as the CAI goes. When I got the car it was in dire need of an oil change, about 15k overdue, so I did that, used Royal Purple with an STP filter, which btw, if you are new like me, then it's one hell of a surprise to find the oil filter is not what you're used to. It requires a special Oil Filter Wrench that you won't find in any tool shop, you can find it online though, I found it for about $12.75. It's a 75.6mm/14 Flute Mazda Genuine Part AKS75140. Anyway I finally gave up, and took my oil, filter to the oil change place and paid them $15 to do it that day then and there just to get it over with.

I also installed the K&N Air filter which was the easiest thing I've ever done on any car. I threw in some LUCAS Fuel Treatment on a full tank of Chevron gas.

Is there anything else I should to the car as far as maintenance goes or should I start on some mods like the Cold Air Intake? I saw one from INJEN one from AEM and K&N but am not sure what the difference is technically and if anyone knows of test results from DYNOS or just their own experiences.

I would like to emphasize that I have the AUTOMATIC transmission.. which sucks but it wasn't really my choice..

I would like to know if there are tips on using this Semi-Auto(or whatever it's called) transmission as far as shifting goes.. because I am really not used to it at all... nothing like standard.

Also wanted to know recommendations on Exhaust.. Any thoughts on this Magnaflow system?: MagnaFlow Exhaust System 2005/2006 Mazda 6 Sedan 2.3L: eBay Motors (item 160366346098 end time May-28-10 12:20:21 PDT)

Thanks!

P.S. I don't want a loud car.. I want fast and responsive.. if loud is necessary then I want it to be that deep loud not like a GoPed on steroids.
