I was thinking about getting some aftermarket rims, was debating wether or not the 17 would be good enough, or if I should wait a bit and go for the 19's. I just saw the post with all the 19 inchers...anyone got a pic with some aftermarket 17's?

Thanks

When it comes to 17 inch aftermarket wheels, people on this board seem to fall into two camps. There are the hardcore 17 inchers who believe that 17 is the max you should go on this car and gives you the best performance and best selection of lightweight wheels.

The other camp feels 17 inch looks too small. The funny thing is, the factory 17s look just right, but every aftermarket 17 I've seen just looks small. I wouldn't recommend 19s as it's tough to get the right load-rated tire to fit without fender rolling, etc. Personally, I think 18s are the practical limit on the 6 and you can easily find a selection of wheels and tires to fit without much, if any, modifications.

*EDIT* BTW, there's several members on this board who bought aftermarket 17s only to comment later that they wish they had bought 18s instead ('cause the 17s look small). 18s usually don't cost much more than 17s and I think you'll be happier with the results. However, it really depends on what your goals are with your car.

Couldn't have worded it better myself toyoguy . I myself am among the camp that feels 17" looks too small given the aftermarket set-ups I've seen thus far. 18's are just right . 19's though they look good are likely too much hassle to deal with for a non-show car .

You should go through the Members Wheels sticky at the top of this forum. Tons o peeps have 17s, 18s and 19s. I'm one of the diehard 17s camp, although purely from a performance point of view. There is nothing wrong with some 18s, just so long as you aren't a hardcore racer. Click the link in my sig to view my wheels.

It depends on the style of the wheels. Some wheels look smaller than other wheels. I find that wheels with thicker spokes look bigger than wheels with smaller or multiple spokes in a 17" size. The stock 17" is a good example of this. Personally, if I were to get aftermarket wheels, I'd go with an 18" setup. Good balance of looks and can still navigate fairly well through the crappy roads here (although you still need to be somewhat careful).
