I'm completely fed up with my dealer-shit (Liberty Mazda in Hartford, exit 33 Jennings road off 91). They have been absolutely nothing but rude to me since I started going there, and have not helped me with a single thing. My stock speakers died at maybe 10k miles, my clutch blew up at 16500 and now my syncro is bad at 18k, and I had mentioned that I had trouble with it when I went in for my clutch replacement. Each of these times they did nothing to help and treated me with no respect either on the phone or in person. I was told that I was wrong, asked rudely "are you done" when I'm explaining my situation, she even said I was lying that she said those things. and then told that they won't cover my syncro because it only grinds when "driving out of spec." For you who don't know, spec driving is driving and shifting under 3000 rpms. How does that make any sense, when 3k is where the v'6s torque picks, up? and where a cruising speed of 70 mph (5 over most speed limits) is?

This is after I went in for my appointment to drop my car off on friday, drove the car with the mechanic who heard the grinding and drove it himself and got the car to grind at shifts around 4000rpms, and then they told me they couldn't get to it over the weekend so I should just drop it off on monday. So I drop the car off sunday night with the keydrop, and of course I get a call monday morning explaining to me that the problem only happens when you drive out of spec, and that I have to come back to hartford and if I can get it to grind under 3k rpms, then they will cover it. and yes my car grinds at 3k, if you shift quickly. I tried to explain to her about how much bullshit that was (without swearing of course) because I work doubles or are at classes the entire week, and that I know if grinds at 3k. She said she had 3 of her people drive it, and that the promise to fix it on friday meant nothing, because her service rep said it only happens driving out of spec. But I have had it with them, I made time and picked up my car, and now I'm looking for dealerships. I have heard the one in Thomaston is absolutely incredible, but its a bit of a drive, especially if I can't get a loaner car. Does anyone know of good dealers around the New Britain area, zip 06053.

[/babbling rant]

Have you considered contacting Mazda North America? You have the right to appeal any of their "warranty" denials. You should also consider escalating this issues within the dealership.

That's a great thought, but better off just getting another dealer. The problem is, the odds of anyone winning a battle are slim. Then you have to consider all the time put into that battle (how much do YOU get paid an hour). Then if the battle is won, you have a shady dealer with a grudge working on your car. Doesn't appeal to me. Goto the "good" dealer, if they fix the car try to get ahold of the Mazda rep and let him know what happened at the first dealership. With any luck they will get a slap on the wrist.

Thats more along my thinking. My dealer definitely hates me now, and I will be writing a letter to Mazda NA very soon. I'll also be looking into contacting any mazda reps that I can and see what I can do.

I bought my car from the one in Thomaston and the couple of service trips I've had to them were EXCELLENT. They really looked after me, prices were great, and even did some things that really show they're paying attention without me asking. Granted it was non warranty work so I can't speak to that regard. I moved to Rocky Hill recently, and the reason I didn't buy my car from Liberty was because the salesman said he would take me out and let me do donuts in the MS6, and that's what all the guys do after the shop closes...I was REALLY turned off by that.

it's a different atmosphere at Modern Mazda I guess. You've definitely affirmed my suspicions of Liberty though. SHADY. I will continue making the long drive to Thomaston when I need service. They've earned my allegiance. The owner of the dealership also works there, and I've met him a few times and I feel I could go straight to him if I had ANY problem at all.

Good Luck.

thats good to hear about Thomaston, I'm probably going to end up going there for all my major service needs and I'll probably just start doing my own oil. I used to get 9.95 oil changes, but I don't think I'm even gonna go back to liberty for that. They definitely don't like me there, and I don't trust they won't mess around with my car. I'll prob take the opportunity to switch over to full synthetic.

off topic: rocky hills only about 10-15 from here, so next time you're doing an install we should set something up. Plus a couple of friends live right on the Sile Estine (spelling?) highway literally on the Whethersfield/Hartford line, so I'm down that way fairly often and I go to the Stop and Shop in rocky hill when I'm there. Do you ever head to the Berlin tnpk for the um....not races of course.

haha, yeah man --I haven't been installing stuff a lot lately. I've got to buy an exhaust but want to get a tuner put in first.

As soon as April hit my addiction has been my motorcycle. Speaking of the Pike, I was riding down it last night and a motorcycle ripped by right between me and my buddy who was also on a bike at who knows how fast...130? then I look behind me, a half mile back I see these flashing blue lights. He just dipped out on these two cops. Since it's been getting colder I think I'll start going to the pike in the ms6 some more and look for some WRXs to dust off, err, rev annoyingly and accelerate to the speed limit rapidly at.

and you must be talking about the Silas Deane highway Yeah man I'm around we should do a car night or something. And if you need help wrenching on your car ever let me know. Actually I'd love to see the CarPC. Maybe you can give me some pointers on building one.

Oh and when I made the switch to full-synthetic I started doing my own oil changes and that's why I haven't been back to Modern Mazda. But I highly recommend them (so far).

yes I was talking about the Silas Deane haha. and the whole carpc is gonna be revamped soon. I'm probably gonna build my own box for it and finally install my GPS and WiFi for it. Then tweak some of the components, add a bigger hard drive, more ram, maybe a faster mobo. First I need to get my dvd disc drive ordered. I just haven't felt like nor had the time to rip my interior apart again, plus I'm trying to hold out on buying things until at least the gen2 MAFci, and possibly the headers. And my screens started to get messed up and I have no idea why. I think something internal is loose, because it flickers really bad, and I really would hate to have to tear it out of my mapbox to open it. I planned on getting the motorized one eventually anyway, maybe this will give me some incentive to make the purchase.

As for building one of your own they're fairly simple. You just have to make sure you have all the pieces, which I could help you find. Ebay and Newegg are great places to buy. MP3car.com has lots of good information in their forums, just don't buy a prefabricated one, they're a rip off. Just let me know when you're ready and I'll help you figure everything out.

Have any recommendations on the synthetic? and if you're gonna be down on the pike hit me up. I gotta get my car cleaned badly though. I pretty much live out of it for school and work.
