Hi listers, I've lurked in here for several yrs but have not seen my question addressed. My low mileage 2006 S with V6 5Spd has always had a notchy shifter. My wife's Fiesta with 5spd is smooth as heck but my 6 shifts ok and never grinds etc but I just feel it should be smoother by now at 39k miles on it.
hope to hear some some of the gurus out there on this. Thanks Randy in GA. |

What Trans fluid are you running? I noticed a big improvement with fluid alone. Now with a sorry throw shifter and a heavy knob shifting.is ridiculously easy
tapatalking.. err wait.

I have never changed out the Trans fluid in this tranny. You mentioned a heavier shift knob and a different shifter I think and the change of fluid. Let me know what those items are. and thanks.

You might want to check this out
3.0L V6 One Stop Shop... A lot of info there The short shifter does help,I went with the mazdaspeed sport shifter (these aren't easy to find, they stopped manufacturing them),and noticed a big difference. The trans fluid change its easy and does help too, some guys went with royal purple oil instead of redline Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using AutoGuide.Com Free App

I prefer neo transmission fluid or schaeffers. I have the twm performance shifter. It reduces the shifter height two inches as well. I had a buddy custom make me a knob. You can find various shapes and weights online to suit your taste. I wouldn't go less than 600 grams
tapatalking.. err wait.

I put AMSOIL in my tranny & noticed quite a difference but is still notchy. Its just the way these cars are. A short throw shifter does help though.
