Redline MT-90 is another popular choice.

I'm also a fan of AMSOIL products, but I wasn't happy with their manual lube in my transmission-- didn't seem to work well with the synchromesh and made the shifting slow and difficult.

I don't have any experience with this fluid, but I'm going to try it out on my next flush. Neo 75w90 HD Trans Fluid

Stay away from RP, it is a GL-5 lube that isn't yellow metal safe. Redline MT-90 or Amsoil MTG are fine choices.

Short answer, dont use the royal purple. Long answer, it seemed good when it was cold outside, except when the tranny itself was cold, but after it warmed with a few highway miles it seemed great. Now that its hitting 90 outside it is horrible, it is extra hard to go between gears. In fact i just ran a search on here to find out the exact redline product alot of other people on this site uses cause im gonna dump the RP crap and try Redline. Thats how i got on this thread, and why i felt the need to tell you not to waste the 60 or 70 something dollars like i did. and BTW jd42 and mariusvt thanks for listing what i was looking for...off to find some RL MT-90 now, ta ta.

Is the Redline fluid blue? When I had a Subaru the big thing was smurfsblood, and I think it was Redline Shockproof to be exact, but cant remember.. Anyways that stuff ROCKED. I used half smurfsblood and half motul 75-90. Super smooth. If I decide to try the combo with my car Ill let yall know how it goes. Right now I just half some dino oil 75-90 in it from my shop when I did my axles and it pretty much sucks.

Have been using the Amsoil MTG for 25K now (100K on the car, 03 6i). I like it alot, no problems shifting in hot or cold temps (live in central CA so not too extreme 110 summer, 30 winter). I commute, just under 200 miles per day, some stop and go traffic.

only two mods:
1) Tinted all but the front window
2) Changed over to the spin on filter (because I HATED the cartridge!!!)

I chucked Redline MT-90 in mine and after a few weeks now I must say that it is not as great as everyone makes it out to be. First few days it was great but by now it is really just like before. I'm thinking I will follow mr.tea's advice and go with synchromesh i believe it was....

I can also back Royal Purple as a good brand, however both RP and Redline do not ALWAYS have positive results, plus Redline's products just jacked up in price :P
