I like many in this forum have had my clutch replaced at 38,000 miles. I am a 125,000 plus mile original clutch driver Honda civic si and am not a spirited driver. I had my clutch replaced and since the replacement I am still having major problems shifting up or down into 2nd gear when the car is cold. I took it to the dealer to get my new clutch looked at for the second time (same complaint) and again they said they could not reproduce the issue but said my motor mount needs to be replaced (possible failure). Any advice - I have seen postings that teh OEM motor mount has issues and will likely but a better part CP-E version but not sure it this part will do the trick.

Any advice - I have a 2004 6s wagon now with 48,000 miles. I have not had the clutch shudder since the new clutch was installed and the dealer is telling me my motor mount is gone and wants to put a new mount in. Price of unit is $100 plus 1 hours labor. Can I install it myself? I would prefer to not take it to the dealer so I can get an honest assessment as to whether the part actually failed.

you need one of these: CPE Wishbone motor mount - http://www.therpmstore.com/product_info.ph...products_id=243

I have 44,000 miles on a 2005 6s 5-door and my OEM mount is in terrible shape. I'm planning to order one of these this week. I haven't changed one before, but my car was up on the lift for a service and I looked at how the mount is installed, and it looks like an easy DIY.

I'm also planning to add one of these: AWR transmission mount - http://www.therpmstore.com/product_info.ph...products_id=748

Yeah the OEM lower gearbox mounts shred themselves fairly quickly. There is an easy interim fix:

Get your self two 17mm sockets (or one 17mm socket and a 17mm ring spanner) make sure the socket has a nice long breaker bar as the mounts are done up to about 80ft.lbs. Also get a 10mm socket. Jack the drivers side up (your drivers side) and support the car with a jack stand for safety at the front. Using the 10mm socket, remove the under tray (it's a sinch). Now unbolt the lower gearbox mount at remove both through bolts. Get a small pry bar (large screw driver) and pry the smaller end down till it is clear of the mounting bracket. now simply push up and the mount comes out. Go to your local hardware store and get a tube of Sikoflex black PE in a tube or equivalent. scrub the mount and make sure to get into the tears in the rubber so it's all clean. Using a caulking gun and the Sikoflex, force the PE glue into the cracks and fill the voids in the rubber. leave this over night in a warm spot to dry. you can bake it at a low temp (60 deg C) in an oven, but this usually causes the sikoflex to bulge and it looks untidy.

Once it's all dry, re-fit it in the reverse order and it should be good for quite some time to come.

This will actually improve shifting as the motor will sit nice and rigid now.

This also buys you time to go buy the aftermarket ones Pete has suggested.

Cheers... Mark
