It seem the clock in my wife's 2004 6i is being flaky. The illuminated parts of the time/temp/words will come and go. It can be fixed temporarily if it is bumped or hit to the display. The fix works usually only for a few minutes.

Has anyone else had this issue? I am tempted to dive in and check the connections for this display, but I've heard that tearing into this console can be a trying process.

Anyone know if there is a decent aftermarket replacement or is this a dealer only part.

Thanks
James

I havent heard of anyones display going.... the M on my shift area usally doesn't illuminate and I had once the illumiation for the A/C Speed go out. Could be a failing fuse. I would check that 1st since its a far easier thing to replace, otherwise find a good weekend when you got shit to do

Mine started doing it mid last year, I figure at some point I'll just replace it. Getting into the dash isn't too bad, just be prepared to take a while your first time.

its not too bad, 4 screws and a bolt to get the radio out. There's two connections to check, the one behind the head unit and the one on the LED itself. Good luck! if nothing else, PM MazmartSheldon about a replacement. I'm sure he can hook you up.
