I got a job offer in Quantico. Just wondering what vehicle laws are like in VA. Emissions, tint, plates. That kind of stuff. Also what about classic cars. I have a 1972 Datsun 510

No idea about classic cars. As for the rest, need a front plate, tint can be 50% front sides 35% rear, and emissions not sure. Illegal in theory to have an aftermarket exhaust louder than stock.

In reality you'll get away with a lot, although NoVa cops are a bit worse I hear.

emissions is based on where you live. if you live in fairfax county or pretty much anywhere in the DC metro area, emissions ar erequired. you live down in stafford or sometihng, i can't tell u what their emissions laws are.

Thanks guys. The job is on the Marine corps base, but we would be looking at probably living in Stafford. My wife use to live there and it isn't that far from the base.

Lot's to do in this area of VA. Stafford is nice if you live and work in the area. If your going to try and commute to DC forget it but you'll be going to the other way so no worries.

actually he'll be going WITH traffic if he lives in stafford.

live in woodbridge, u can deal with a catalytic converter. save the planet!

in woodbridge, gas is cheap, outlet mall is right there, not horribly crowded and you'll be going against traffic to quantico

+1 I just moved into a great house couple of months ago in woodbridge. Here to Quantico is maybe ~15-20min. And there is A LOT more to do than in Stafford. Housing is not that bad....just be sure to research where you are looking to purchase. Just like any area, it has its not so nice parts. If you are looking to come to the area hit me up. Been here for over a year now....and still love it!

As far as cars go...emissions testing is required here in Woodbridge. If you travel further west or south all they do is the visual inspections. But I have been bothered more than once for tint and no front plate on the car.

hoodbridge (haha) springfield, alexandria you can get some nice sized townhouses for the 300k range. pretty cheap if ur lookin gto buy.

I know a friend takes 25minutes to get to quantico from south arlington. ur going against traffic living anywhere north of quantico. personally I like living close to DC/metro
