Default Prep for track help

Hey guys, me and my friend have been wanting to race for a while (he has a modded corvette c4), and since were resposible human beings we decided to take it to the track. So now i need advice on what to upgrade on my speed for a safe track experience (safe for the car i mean ). so far ive got intake, exhasut, tune, and im getting a RMM. What else would i need?

I would say: (you may already have)

Rear Diff Mount(s)
RSB
RMM
New brakes/rotors/juice
Maybe a tranny mount and PMM (Check the conditions of these)
Tranny/diff/PTO/engine/coolant flush with good fluids
Any Maintenance over due? (Plugs, DISI valve cleaning)
Depending on mileage and wear, suspension
I bet a SSP, solid bushing are nice too!

I'm sure there is more. Most important are the RSB, Mounts and a good maintenance (fluid, plugs, valve cleaning etc.)

i know the RMM helps a lot but is this the mod that allows for a smooth shift from 1-2?

I have the RMM and TWM's stage 2 short shifter. Both radically improved shifting but I don't know if I would call it smooth. Still acts a bit notchy at times

Are you going to the drag strip or like an auto cross type track?

15$ entrance fee includes unlimited access to the drag strip, drift track, and autocross track. And its 10$ for those who just want to spectate :P And we will try both autocross and drag

It odd... Sometimes its slips right in, sometimes it requires force and sometimes it gets stuck half way and is notchy. Word for the wise...avoid downshifting hard into second. you WILL need new forks and possible synchros. There is a godly long thread about this on MSF.

The anchors under the shifter car are metal but have rubber liners around them. Its a mild improvement and is noticeable when you slam it in gear. There is no more moosh...or give, if you will. Also the SSP (I have the SURE) did help my 2nd gear shift. for autoexing i would get a light weight shift weight or no weight at all. it helps keep it in gear under heavy braking or gassing.

Do the Ford Motorcraft tranny fluid. It supposed to be the best.

It's definitely been hit or miss with me. Its come to the point where I hardly notice it when it doesn't go in without a bit of force

I haven't tried the SSP nor lighter shift weight. I've read mixed reviews that with the plate, the linkages/boot need to be greased every few thousand miles which just seems like an added maintenance as well it being ineffective when it comes to shifting into 2nd because it raises the cables up and causes it to bind.

I'm not saying it doesn't work, I just don't have the money to experiment with it

DUH! lmao

For what its worth the sure plate keeps the connector low like OEM -- it just moves it to the side. I also just use high temp can lube and spray/clean my linkage every 1000 miles or so. helps as well.
