Default speed6 power restriction on 1st,2nd gear

When i went for the first test drive in my speed6, the owner told me that there is a power restriction on the first and second gear ( something like -25% power) to protect the gear box or something like that. Thats what his buddy that works at mazda told him. I later did a couple pulls and noticed that it does seem to pull much harder in the 3rd+ gears. Anyone else notice or hear about this? I will also be getting the car dyno tunned very soon, maybe they will be able to confirm this *rumour*.

get an accessport to get rid of the horrid stock tune and you won't have any limiters/restrictions.

boost is limited in 1st and 2nd gear on stock tune.

Isnt getting a tune at a dyno better than the accessport? considering that i will not be adding anymore power mods, and i know nothing about custom tunning lol

you cant get a tune without an accessport lol. and e-tuners are a lot better than any dyno tuner you will find.
and if you dont want a custom tune...Cobb has plenty of OTS tunes you download right off there website specified to your list of parts.

What mods do you have and do you have any method of monitoring?

I'm pretty sure you need an AP or a Versatuner to tune your car. There are dyno's out there that can tune your car, however you'd have no way to alter a tune they put on without one which depending on natural circumstances, can become catastrophic to your ride.

The problem with the Mazdaspeed is that it uses a very unique engine and most dynotuner's have very little experience in dealing with them. If time to tune your own ride is an issue then I'd say the best bang for your buck would be to purchase an AP and contact one of the etuners on the speed forums. Their world revolves around the intricacies of the DISI mzr engine and would be able to make the most out of your mods. Plus you have the benefit of picking their brains and learning the ins and outs of your car.

Agreed, from my learning disi is very different than port and many etuners here or msf would be happy to help you for less cash and better results, plus safer because they know what they are doing.

Even if you are stock, flashing to an ap ots map, very simple to do, will yield very noticeable results. They r safer, as most say, than the stock tune. If you drive like a Nancy most of the time, I'm sure stock tune is fine but if you start launching,, street racing Honda's and autoexing a ap is needed.

I've had my AP for only a little while. With just the intake and exhaust and spark plugs, there's better options than the OTS AP tunes?
