Default I'm a happy TiGray

For the first time in, well, it seems like forever, my car she does not rattle at cold start

I suspect the wife is even happier than I am with Mazda for not shrinking the Holiday Budget by ~$13-1400...

Very curious where you took yours.

I think we can all agree that VVT failure is imminent, with the possibilty of stretched chains as well. If the issue is present at all (and it likely should be on OE, high mileage), it obviosuly needs to be addressed, and done so on Mazda's dime.

How many miles do you have? I figure it must be under the 100k mile mark for them to warranty it.

I agree. I wish I knew weather or not mine was already replaced.
@TiGraySpeed6 glad your moring start ups are going to be less nerve racking.

Fixed.

And I believe the warranty extension both for smokey turbo and the VVTA issue were to 70K miles or 7 years.

I really don't feel like I hear any noises on start up, but I hear some wierd tapping at 3K-4K RPM, which is pretty new. I am pretty good at hearing odd noises cars make, and my Speed6 (other than its loud, creaky, poppy suspension) is still pretty quiet and smooth under the hood.

But, it is irritating to know that the problem WILL crop up at some point, and I'll be footing the bill.

Congrats! Nothing like an early Christmas/Kwanza/Hanukkah present!

I'm sure your fmic would have been a pain to remove but did you de-mod anything before you took it in? Revert back to stock tune? or did they just go based on your claim and say, ok!..?

I ask because thats the only I thing I fear once the time inevitably comes when I'm gonna have to get those replaced

Well I took it to Mckinney- El Dorado Mazda. I know these get really bad eventually, and then it is apparant. The dealer just doesn't want to do it if Mazda was to ask for the chain and the tolerance is not where it should. Completely annoyed by this though, so I will take it to Town North Mazda in Richardson, which is a much better dealer IMO, and see if they will do it.

This is from last winter:
