thanks man. I'll get a better idea of the overall shape of the car tomorrow since the dealer is gonna have mazda take a look at the entire car.

I just want to go in tomorrow with a little bit of knowledge.

In MD you should expect rust in engine bay at 6 years.

I fall over when I see engine by shots of non built cars on here and MSF where they see snow and salt.

I'm luck as I have a florida car.

the VVT replacement is what was important.
How bad is it smoking? I mean if it is only a little bit yes, there is a chance they wont do anything about it.

If you think this is YOUR car and if you like it you can patch the issue with higher idle and some heavier oil but you will still need to fix it eventually. Go with your gut. Keep in mind a replacement is about $1500

You can get a basic BNR Turbo

Post some pics, shoot us a video of the car idling after 10 minutes to see how bad the smoke it.

16k is average price for what you looking at. I paid 15500 after a 500$ price drop and free alignment. 2006, 55k. very clean.

More and more, I'm convinced I overpaid for my car...

If there's this many issues, and they seem to not want to work with you, I'd wait.

when I opened the hood there were leaves and twigs round the sides of engine bay. Nothing to deter me purchasing the car but it just made me wonder how it could get in there. my guess was the intercooler duct or grille as the openings are bigger than my 6s.

is 1500 the price of a k04 alone?

to smoke blew out 2 to 3 feet from the exhaust tips and was enough for the manager to move out of the way of the smoke as the wind blew a bit.

I'm definitely not in a rush to buy a speed so I won't make any rash decisions.

If the car is bone stock and smoking thats turbo replacement territory, it usually takes a DP to make it a smoke machine. If theres warranty left I'd be on that. I replaced my VVT and timing chain at around the same miles. It's a great car but requires "special" attention.

As a reference point, I paid $14,700 back in January 2011 for the MS6 in my sig with 38K miles. My car was stock and didn't need anything.

Nope. I bought it from a private seller, not a dealer, but after all was said and done it was less than $16K.

17K is laughable. You can't talk them down on this? Are you young or something?

I mean, I wish these things were valued like that, but there just aren't.
Granted, in the north east, and north west, or places where there is snow, they tend to fair better in value.

But, the past couple of years has seen prices all over the place. People show up on the forums who got a steal, and other who were butt fucked.

In Texas, I see Speed 6's sell all the time for 9K-12K. A 2006 GT might sell for 12K in Texas. So what makes it worth 5K more in MD, I don't know...

I paid 23.5K for mine NEW 6 years ago. Tell the dealer that.

If you can't talk them down to at least 14.5K, just walk. There is no sense in overpaying for a 6 year old Mazda.

^ 17k is on the high side in MD. I've seen a white ms6 with about 40k miles go for i believe 19k at carmax.14k gets you 80k miles usually in MD. Gt or sport doesn't make a difference

I think I can talk them into 15k on the road. if not I'll walk since I'm not in a rush.
