Default 2014 Mazdaspeed 6 (Turbo and AWD)

Ok I posted this in the 2nd Generation "Possible Mazdaspeed 6" section but not sure how many people are paying any attention to that so here is the link. I'm been hoping I would see this pop up. Hard to believe it will have been 8 years since the debut of the Mazdaspeed 6 in 2006:

2014 Mazdaspeed 6 a Likely Possibility

Hah! I won't hold my breath. I don't think it will be anytime soon. Mazda continually reports losses and have been for a while, and are generally struggling right now. I won't dismiss the prospect completely. My guess would be they continue to focus on rolling out Skyactiv technology into all of their current platforms by their goal of 2016, then possibly spend some assets, time, etc. looking into expansions in that regard.
Afterall, the 6 was reasled in 2002, right? They were reporting pretty early on about a sooped up version of the 6 way back then, and it took 3-4 years, including a few delays before the MS6 finally released.

I guess all we can really do is sit tight & wait to see what they do. Although it would be nice to have a speed version of the beautiful new 6 which is coming.

Im with groceries though, not holding my breath. Just crossing my fingers....

I think it is a great idea for Mazda to expand their platform to other cars, as the article states. I do think Mazda is focusing its efforts on skyactive and bringing in the mainstream car, but I will hope for the best!

If they do release it I might just buy one. Hopefully they do.

I really like the way that looks. Almost has an Audi A5 body line to it. I would definitely consider it as my 2006 is still a great car, but about ready for a change. I'm still searching for a car that provides what my speed6 does at a reasonable price. The new Cadillac ATS is close, but is a bit small and a bit expensive. The wrx is solid mechanically for what I'm looking for, but not "nice" enough. 4 doors, manual trans, 300ish horsepower, rear or all wheel drive, decent mileage, space for a couple sets of clubs in the trunk, some luxury, and a well optioned price in the mid 30's. Is that too much to ask for??

If the WRX's had standard leather and a 6-speed, I'd be all over it. I like how light they feel, but they just feel cheaper than the Speed. Part of why I bought the Speed over a Legacy 2.5GT spec.B. That, and Subie's hold their value for a long time: all the Speeds had half the mileage for the same price.

The new ATS is a BAMF.
