buy the cobb ap and you get engine monitoring plus tuning all in one.

it is a tuning device, but it also has a display so you can see all those real time sensors as well as the ability to read and clear codes. i suggest you go do more research.

I use an Aeroforce Interceptor gauge. Displays two parameters at a time, red backlight that matches the dash, and 52 mm. Not nearly as handy as the AP or versatile as the Dashhawk, but checks/clears codes and measures most things you'd want.

I'll chime in and recommend the AP too. It'll cost you a bit more but you can tune it for a bit more HP and land a few more MPGs if you can keep your foot off the throttle too much. All the monitoring you could want, a few fun goodies built in, and tunability that can improve performance/efficiency on even a stock motor. For it's price it really is a damn good package.

It plugs into the OBD. Very easy to install then, and they give you a pretty long wire for placing the gauge. I do have it installed in the center vents, which is a real clean look. Trust me, it's not hard at all, and I think there's even a how-to somewhere. Of course, it will fit into any 52mm gauge pod, so there are several options for mounting. To give you an idea:

@RhoadBlock..def considering getting one now..just need to save up some more money cause they are pricey. my only apprehension is im not extremly mechanically gifted..i know the basics but i guess i mean i dont want to do more harm than good, so is it fool proof?
@issard..ok great thanks for the info..im up in canada so in the winter i need every vent i can get haha..but really cool how its all in one..i suppose i can set it in a seperate gauge pod..any threads on hiding the wires?

AP
You can use the basic tools such as monitoring but if you ever need to re-tune, tune or adjust something it can do it. For example raise idle if your turbo starts smoking all the way to Eco-modes for fuel consumption to simple add-ons like turbo-backs and intakes. considering you are looking to spend close to 300 anyways, might as well get the best tool for the job and spend a bit more. Search here and mazda247, these two sites have the best database for all sorts of how-to's. |
