So.........where do I start.
Over the years that I have been on this forum, I was fortunate to meet many people and make a few friends. Some people know my car from the start and some probably think "Who the hell is this guy?" People who are on here long enough probably know a few things or two about my car and some even asked me about "Motor Build in Progress" that I have on my sig. The forums have been a bit quiet of late and I thought I would give people something to read. lol Anyway, who is not worried for a single minute about their motor when you have so much damn done to it? I for one every single day always thought of the day where my motor will blow when I am on a road trip or on a simple date w/ my girlfriend...hehe (Who wants that right?) Just was getting sick to my stomach trying to not beat on the car or drive it so I won't break it. What the hell is the point of slapping on over $10K in parts including 2 GT turbos and labor only to be scared to drive it like I stole it. I for one was just frustrated. Still, I drove my car hard though but that thought was always in the back of my head. Yes, I have been through all the bullshit this car kindly offers, Smoking Turbo, Boost Creep and whatever you can think of. The funny thing was that after all the Creep Bullshit on the 30R, and then putting on a 2871, My motor never ever once gave up on me. over 15K miles on the 30R w/ boost creep and now the 2871, my car was running golden. It dynoed 320/333 @ 18psi on a dynojet, pulling on Carrera 4's, SRT-8s, bolted Zs, Gs, Evos, STIs. Also got spanked a few times as well ![]() So this time around I decided on getting Meth w/ pro-fuel controller, ACT Clutch and Flywheel, AEM Tru-Boost and some more Defi gauges installed by my friends at P3. If any of you have ever been to P3 like myself, you see forged blocks left and right and you feel like a little kiddie in a toy store. You want some of that. You see CX-7s, MS3s, Charles' Ms6 with empty engine bays and mine sitting there with a stock block all ready to go and you think to yourself, "Am I gonna leave here with all these mods on a stock block when I can build using my still pristine head that I can use for a build now and save a ton of money?" My stock block is gonna blow one day or the other and thats a fact. No one will last 20k miles with what I have anyways. See, what costs money is the head. Once your rods shoot through the block, you head is useless and thats where costs add up. I don't want to come back one day towing my car 300 miles to P3 with a useless head and a hole through a block knowing that I could have buiilt it before hand and still use my head. Like Jason stated to me, "Yoichi, you really starting to push it". He was completely right. I could have left there with the car but decided not to. I took the Amtrak home and now bumming rides and taking the subway to work waiting for my beast to be awakened. We are now 5 weeks into the build and hoping to get this done in the beginning of October. This is what the finished product will consist of: Fully Built Shortblock consisting of: CP 0.020 Oversized Pistons Carillo Forged Rods ARP Headstuds ARP Rod Bolts, Custom Fit Piston Rings, ARP Main Studs, New Gaskets, Flywheel and Crank Bolts, Rear Main Seal, Crank Seal and Main/Rod/Thrust Bearings Timed Long Block with above specs plus a “Refurbished Head” Street Porting to the Head Garrett GT2871R w/ custom oil and coolant lines Protege Garage Exhaust Manifold w/ Tial 44m External Wastegate Labonte Motorsports Stage II Methanol Injection System ACT 6 Puck Sprung Clutch / Lightweight Flywheel CP-E Standback PnP V2 CP-E Pro Fuel Controller CP-E Downpipe w/ Screamer Pipe welded back in CP-E Big Turbo Inlet Pipe CP-E High Flow Fuel Pump CP-E Nano Short Ram Intake CP-E Front Mount Intercooler CP-E No Cut Flash CP-E Throttle Control Flash CP-E HKS SSQV CP-E Motor Mount Corksport Catback Exhaust VTCS Delete BSD Delete Not expecting any type of dyno queen at all. Yes, my car can take a 35R in right now but I am so out of any extra funds for it. Wish me luck gentlemen and I will surely make a thread again once its all complete. UPDATE!!! Short Block is Done. Head is all ported up just waiting for its angled valves. Here she is: ![]()

If your going to go farther than a GT2871r i would get a bigger FMIC core anyways. The 2871r is hella fun to drive for sure though. (until you blow on stock internals! lol)
