I've tried a search and can't find any topic or discussion on this, and is quite a deciding factor for my next purchase.

Newbie to the Mazda forums. I was planning on purchasing a Subie GT wagon, but it's becoming apparent that they are not offering Manual Tranny's with Wagon's for the 2006 m/y. And the sedan's seats for the Legacy don't fold down.

I'd prefer a Sport Wagon, but I like the MPS find enough also...but am trying to confirm if the seats will fold down.

I checked the spec sheet for the regular 6 sedan and the MPS. The 6 sedan says it does, but nothing is noted on the MPS spec sheet.

Can anyone confirm either way?

thanks for any help?

Peace,
Dave

Right...Damn it! Why do they do that?! Structural integrity? Damn it, just put a cross bar through the rear speaker deck!!!

As far as I understand, yes, for structural rigidity... very unfortunate, I know... I was hoping for that too!

There already is a crossbar there. They wanted further reinforcement so they put crossbars across the entire rear seat area as well.

Yes, the Mazda designers really screwed the pooch on this one...

Eliminating a feature every fixed roof car with a back seat should be expected to have...

They should have found a way to get the desired rigidity while still keeping this essential feature (I fold my seats down frequently, even when I had sedans).

Subaru does not have folding rear seats on any sedan... of course, they also can't design their way out of a paper bag, either.

I'm sorry, but the reason to buy an MS6 is because of the DRIVE, and NOT whether or not the seats fold down or not!

Geez, what did everyone do with sedans BEFORE the magical fold-down seats were installed?

You need to haul stuff, buy the wagon, or the 5-door!

What's wrong with demanding the car to have both?

I want the car to be able to haul ass and haul my stuff.

Nothing at all, but it won't happen.

A typical MS6 buyer probably already has another vehicle at his disposal to haul his stuff with. If they had that much to haul around on a regular basis, they wouldn't choose a MS6 in the first place.

Besides, the MS6 shouldn't bend like a rubber band while apexing a tight corner. And considering the MS6 weighs enough already, imagine what extra bracing would add to it if the seats folded!

Yes, folding seats are nice, but if it's a necessary sacrifice, then so be it...
