Got a P-0171 code today. Just installed a CAI so I checked for vaccuum leaks in it with engine starter spray. Got nothing. Placed the MAF straightener in roughly the same place as it was on the airbox. I had noticed a vaccuum leak before I put the CAI on but thought it might be in the airbox so I got the CAI. Autozone counter kid is trying to convince me its an O2 sensor, even though I can hear the leak. I never got a check engine light before the CAI so I don't think the vaccuum leak is causing the code. My question is whether or not my engine is misfiring? Or is the MAF just thinking too much air is being pulled in so I'm getting the code? Thanks.

I had the same thing happen to me after I installed my AEM CAI. Everything was installed properly and like a week later my engine light came on. The auto zone kid told me it could be a number of things that went with the code, 02 sensor being one of them. I ended up paying the $25 or so and changed out the spark plugs and the engine light went away. Your engine is most likely missing, hope that helps!

Pulled the plugs, sure enough have that dreaded brownish/black. Time for a change. Do I have to take the intake manifold off to get to the ones on bank 2? Looks like there isn't much room there. Thanks!

If you have a v6 yes you must remove the intake plenum to access rear plugs. Might as well change the coils while you are in there & cut down the egr tube.

Oh also, if I happen to get the code after I change plugs again, is it a false code saying I'm running lean because of the CAI or am I really misfiring?
