So I have a 2003 Mazda 6 3.0L V6. For example I put 3 gallons of gas into my car, I know its not a lot of gas, and just drive in my small town of 9k people, I should get around 70 miles from that 3 gallons correct? Well I get between 18-40. Is that right or is there something wrong with my car?

I can't speak to the 3.0L, but I average over 32 miles per gallon with my 2.3L with the manual trans. I regularly go well over 500 miles on every tankful.

Frankly you should be getting way more than 70 miles out of 3 gallons
The mazdaspeed 6 gets about 20 mpg, the V6 I believe was somewhere around the high twenties or low thirties And the 6i is about 35+ Those are all non highway mileages, with highway it's about another 5 miles each Sent from my SGH-I747M using AutoGuide.Com Free App

I get about 260 miles out of full tank.... Or 80 miles if I put 20$ gas in it.

I would consider getting a mechanic to look, but at the same time replace airfilters, plugs, and check tire pressure. That alone helped up mine back to what I had when I bought the car with 40k on it, 40k later still runs the same.
