Default 2006 Mazda 6 gearshift light change-console

just wondering if anyone knows how to check/ change burned out bulb(s) on the console showing what gear you are in...

To access mine on my 2006, I just pulled up on the cup holder section of the console to loosen it. I pulled up the e-brake to slide that piece over and away from the e-brake.

Screw off the shift knob.

Then, you can pull up the piece of the floor console surrounding the shifter. You can access the two lights this way.

For some reason, the one on the left, which lights up the gear selection, sometime doesn't come on when I turn the lights on. If I give it a tap near the bottom of the shifter, it'll come on.

Do you just grab the cup holder section and pull with out any tools? hidden screws?...i tried to tap it like u did but still no lights...i believe they're probably burned out...thanks!
