Mazda Australia recalls and stops delivering the 2013 Mazda 6.

Mazda Australia recalls and stops delivering the 2013 Mazda 6. 15,000 cars globally is affected by this recall.

The recall is due to reported 2 fire hazard cases. One reported in Australia and another in Europe. It is said to be caused by the DC/DC converter positioned behind the new 'i-eLoop' energy regeneration system.

Quote:
Mazda has recalled 15,000 cars globally to address a flaw which could result in a fire under the passenger seat.

The brand has suspended deliveries of its medium-sized 6 because of a faulty part inside an electrical converter that “may cause overheating and in a worse case scenario, a fire”.

Mazda says two cars have caught fire, one in Europe and one in Australia. The cars were with dealers at the time, and the problems are understood to have occurred in the last week.

More than 1500 Australian owners will be affected by the recall. Mazda says it will provide them with alternative transport while repairs are performed.

The component is part of Mazda’s i-ELOOP system that recovers energy to help reduce fuel use.

The DC converter is used to feed electricity back into the car for use on ancillaries such as the radio and ventilation systems.

It is not clear when engineers discovered a potential quality concern with the the car, which was suspended from sale last week.

The Mazda6 is sold with a choice of 2.5-litre, 138kW/260Nm petrol or 2.2-litre, 129kW/420Nm turbo diesel engines. The brand’s CX-5 SUV uses the same motors, but it says only the Mazda6 is affected.

Mazda Australia’s last recall was issued in November 2012.

It addressed a flaw in the Mazda Tribute utility that carried a risk of its throttle jamming open.

I complained to Dealer about gas fumes when filling the tank a month before I got the notice. The Dealer contacted corporate and they said they had no USA complaints. Then I get the letter in the mail. Pardon me while I call B.S. !

They did fix the issue with a retro fit.

There has been a recall in effect since last year. We're still waiting for our second letter from Mazda to bring our wagon in for the airbags. We got our first letter months ago. Makes me worry every time the wife drives that car...

2008 Magnum SRT-8, Brilliant Black Crystal
2004 6s wagon, SGM/Black
2004 GTO, Quicksilver/Black 6-spd LS1
