Thumbs up

Hey all - question for everyone, to see if people have suggestions, since I might not be able to get the car to a dealer before Monday.

My 04 6s today developed an awful squealing noise. I first noticed it really briefly this morning in a parking garage, just a real quick squeak going around a left-hand turn. By this evening driving home about 5 miles from out with friends (put about 20 miles on car during course of day), the squeal was constant when the car was moving forward with no brakes (a non-brake squeal, never had that before...). The noise is from the driver's side of the car, and it appears to have to do with the speed of the car - it's constant and loud at slow speed, and cycles more quickly ("squeeeeeak... squeak... squeak-squeak-squeak, tc.) the faster the car goes. On the way home, it seemed to have stopped at one point at highway speed going straight ahead, only apparent when the wheel was turned to the left, but then got worse again and came back no matter the direction. The whole thing stops as soon as you touch the brakes.

Anyone have a clue what it might be!? Was supposed to drive the car about 70 miles tomorrow, REALLY annoyed that I feel I might have to keep it out of commission until the dealer can look at it.

Might be related to this?

But anyway, for squealing type of sound from the brakes, check out the brakes/suspension section. We have lots of similar threads overthere.

I had the SAME EXACT problem, but with the right front wheel. I brought it to the dealership and it turned out to be the brake clips. My warranty covered it, dealer replaced the clips, and my car has been squeak free since. Mine would mostly happen when I was turning to the right, but then started happening more often, even when I was traveling straight. Very VERY annoying sound, especially when it happened to my 3 month old 2005 6.

Hopefully taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Here's the strange thing, the car makes a noise in reverse, not the same squealing, a sharper sound.
