Leather Steering Wheel already fading..

Living in the Florida sun probably doesn't help but my leather steering wheel is fading around the rim . Anyone else ?

I'll need to do something. It's starting to whiten. Ugh.

I was kinda scared by your story as I love my baby pretty much.

I use a steering wheel cover purchased at a local walmart store:
Custom Accessories Neoprene Stretch Steering Wheel Cover, Black: Automotive : Walmart.com

The inside surface is some kind of soft foam. I have been using this for 5 months and have had no problem so far.

I just ordered an Intro-Tech Auto Shade Custom Fit Sunshade as well as two side window sunshade. Hope it would keep my baby look good for a bit longer.

also doesn't treating it regularly help? I've never had leather so I'm not quite sure. But maybe armor all protectant or something like that?

I'd avoid armorall (it tends to make things worse over time, especially if you stop using it), but perhaps with 303 or similar I'd think so.

Your hands need to stop sweating so much when you race the other cars bro.

Sorry about that man though, I wonder if that is covered by warranty?

I'll assume you tried to clean it and make sure it's not salt or something, right?

If it cleans up a bit, I'd try out that 303 aerospace protectorant. I'm going to order some and I've heard great things about it. Basically protects against UV damage.

I'm in FL as well, but have only had the car for 4 months.

Mix of oils from hands and hot Florida sun certainly will not help. I use to 303 mentioned above and it's just incredible stuff.

But for the steering wheel I bought this

Although mine is not like the one pictured, it has a more matte leather look and not shiny. The one in my truck is the same exact one as the one in the picture and I bought that one from Autozone. Hope it's just something that can be cleaned and not signs of wear.
