Default 2015 Mazda 6?

Hi guys,

I'm a Speed 6 guy, but have been cruising around this area for a bit checking on everybody's thoughts on the new 6.

I have been hoping Mazda will bring back the Speed 6 for me to upgrade to, but I don't think that is going to happen, unfortunately(insert sad face).

So, to my question, does anybody have any information on what Mazda is planning to change from 2014 to 2015 on the 6? I am still looking to upgrade, but am wondering if waiting for the 2015 model will bring any advantages?

I know it is very early, which is why I'm sure I haven't been able to find anything.

Anybody have the inside scoop?

-Trent

The only thing we know for sure, which won't wait for the 2015's and should hit the 2014's later this year, are a turbo diesel and i-Eloop capacitor based regenerative braking. Sadly, no performance additions are known. Maybe Mazda racing their diesel will help jump start some aftermarket for that engine.

I'm sure that an NA turbo is on the way. They are going to need to do it to stay competitive IMO. I hope if/when it happens it doesn't look as different from the regular 6 as the Speed6 did last time, especially the hood!

Will it happen in the 2015 model? Probably not, but for anyone to know already would be almost impossible. It is only March of 2013!

Ummmmm NA turbo?

NA = naturally aspirated (non turbo or SC)
FI = forced indiction (turbo'd or SC'd)

I think what you meant was a gasoline turbo.

Someone who works at a dealership said that there is a Speed6 coming back soonish. Maybe 2016? I don't remember exactly. Within the next 5 year's I thought.

i wouldnt listen to them. they probably know less than you do. my local dealerships all have a different story on whats coming. hell the mechanics havent even had training for a turbo diesel yet.

Hmmm. I was hoping there would be some talk of an AWD model. I guess I can deal with an automatic and not much power, but the MPG with an AWD would make this my next car. I am going to be annoyed if I buy a 2015 6 and they end up coming out with a Speed in 2016.....Well, i'll be annoyed, and then i'll buy it.

Autoblog says the next 3 might be available as soon as late fall. That would be rather impressive - not sure I believe it. A 3s with the new 2.5 would be amazing.
