Got my switchbacks in and ordered my fogs today, will be painting them this week when the come in and installing them, need to get the LED bulbs for it though to match the switchbacks, are they H11? Haven't gotten them in yet. Also, does everyone's switchbacks flash faster? I bought the resistors and put those in the power feed for the flasher and all it did was decrease the voltage making it dimmer, didn't make it any slower though... Also once the fogs come in i'll be wiring them up to come on with the parking lights rather than the low beams so I can rock the switchback / LED fog combo. This weekend i'll be pulling the headlights apart and painting them as well if I can actually find time to do so.

why are you getting LEDs for the fogs? theyre going to be useless...just get an HID kit for the fogs.

and you more than likely installed the resistors wrong. you sure you have the right resistance? (6ohms)

Yeah it was 6ohm but I did install them wrong, after doing a little wire tracing I realized that you have to splice them in with the turn signal power feed and the ground, I originally just spliced it into the turn signal feed. I decided I didn't want to cut and splice the harness anymore so I just bought these on ebay.

LED Warning Canceler 7443 x 2 Decoders OBC Bulb Out Light Fix Plug Play Resistor | eBay

As far as the HID kit, I'm going to eventually get the HID kit for the fogs and the lows but for now a friend of mine gave me plug and play LEDs for the fogs. The fogs are more for show than anything around here anyway, don't really get much in the way of fog where I'd have to use them. I just think it looks kind've rice with the LED switchbacks and halogen light coming out of the fogs and lows. I've got the wiring diagrams that I need and everything to wire the fogs so that they come on with the parking lights and go off with the highbeams. From the factory they're wired through the power feed to the relay for the low beams so they will only be on with the low beams, going to jump a power feed from the parking lights before the relay for the lows where the fogs come in and then put a relay there for a kill when the high beams come on. Going to be pretty in depth wiring and may take a little while to get just right but me and one of the master techs that I work with have it pretty much mapped out and we're going to try it when the fogs come in this weekend. If it works, I'll be putting a rush on the HIDs for the fogs. Never really fooled with HIDs for lows or fogs, aside from Morimoto, where would be the best place to get them and is there anything special I need to know about wiring them or is it pretty much just ballast and plug and play from there?

Yes! Someone that's going to try this!

If you do a step-by-step write-up (with pics), it'll become a sticky, and you'll be a 2nd-gen hero to all us lazy asses that want to do this but haven't tried it yet...

Definitely will be doing a write-up with pics if I decide to do it. Going to be a very very advanced job though. Going to have to pull the fuse box, jump wires and create a new relay point to do it properly. I'm pretty stoked about doing this. I'll be posting pics with diagrams I used and everything.

Thank you 6Y, you've personally used DDM and like them? I've never done anything with HIDs and I don't want to get junk HID kits. The other thing is color/temp... what is going to be closest to pure white to match the switchbacks? 5500k?

i have DDM bulbs for my low beams, and DDM Kit for my fogs (same ones on the 2nd gen are now on my ms6, i swapped them from the 2nd gen to the ms6) I had 6000K bulbs on my 2nd gen but they didnt match the Swithbacks perfectly. But my 8000K fogs on the 2nd gen matched the Switchbacks i had perfectly.

Awesome man, I really appreciate all of the info! How are the 8000k bulbs for visibility? (Forgive my noob-ness on HIDs, glad I have someone here with more knowledge about them) I could literally diagnose and repair absolutely anything on a mazda and given time could do the same on any off-brand as well but when it comes to HIDs they're just completely foreign to me lol. Must have missed that ASE cert :-P

well technically speaking...5000k is the perfect brightness. People say 8000k is too blue and not visible at all. But i disagree. Visibility depends on how good your projector/lens are. I have 8000k and my buddy has 8000k on his ms3 and his shine even brighter than mine. His is 2nd gen...the 2nd gen 3's and 6's have much better projectors/lenses than the 1st gen. So my vote is that 8000k provides plenty of visibility.
