Why is the audio quiet???

Hi guys. So here's my problem, whether I'm listening to a cd or the radio and a really good song comes on ( run to the hills by maiden) I turn up the volume to 15-20 expecting to really give it some but the sound is still quite low. When I plug my ipod into the aux it's really loud from 10 onwards using just the speakers. So this means the radio must be limiting the loudness somehow. I've got alc set to7 ( and that's just to get louder the faster I go) but it's still not good enough. I've checked settings but can't find anything, I don't think it's Bose but it is the 6 cd unit. Any help please cos I really want to be able to let rip lol. Cheers

Just to clarify, you can't get high volume when using the CD or the Radio but it works fine when using the Aux port? Seems odd if that's the case. I would think an amp is the culprit.

If you're using your Ipod turn it's volume up almost to full but not all the way. Turning it all the way will give it distortion. Using Pandora thru phone be sure to turn up the volume all the way on the phone. Hope this helps

Agreed. When using the AUX port, the volume setting on your iPod will absolutely make a big difference one way or the other -- just like it does when you're wearing headphones.

As whitco said, turn the iPod up most of the way, then you can pretty much use your car's volume controls as normal.

Yeah the aux works great but I still want the radio and cd to works as good. I think Michael may have something with the amp. Is it hard to get to or replace?
