It looks stupid! 18's suit this car perfectly, and 19's is extreme. It looks like a damn SUV.

Look at his poor job of chopping lambos on his car. Some people man.

LOL!!! i knew this would be a good topic!

I even think 18" wheels are too big for this car... 17" wheels have the perfect black/siver ratio for my taste. The 16" wheels have a little too much sidewall.

A 45 or 50 sidewall looks best for most applications.

20" would totally be black band aid on oversized wheels 42.gif

Ya that pic with the lambos does look bad cause its a knock-off. If they were true lambos the go to a 90 deg angle it wouldnt look bad.

20's are too small for a performance vehicle. Big wheels are the powa! GO BIG OR GO HOME!

True words of wisdom. I agree though, if you're gonna go big, get some 28"s and a lift kit, or get of the fckin porch bitches.

No offense, I know that in a forum everyones opinion is variable, however when I hear a question along the lines of the one above it kinda boils me. I am so afraid that the 6 will turn into the dodge stratus of today. When it was originally released it was frequesntly used in a number of the touring car races, but on the production side the vehicle suffered from a number of recalls and problems, similar to our 6's. Now the only time I see a stratus it was a candy bowlingball paint scheme and sports some obnoxious wheel size. I am just afraid the 6 will follow the same path. This post is rather abrasive and I mean to ill towards anyones opinions, but does anyone feel me???

The stock tires are nearly 26" in diameter. I figure you can fit 24" wheels and still have room for nearly an inch of sidewall.

Rubbing won't be an issue because the stock tires are 8.5" wide at their widest point... get 24x8's and they'll fit. Maybe ToyoGuy will hook you up with some 225/10/24 tires.

Yup, that's a 10 series profile you'd need to get under an inch of sidewall.

GBOGH!

When you're done, let's race. Over broken pavement.

Why not just go to the drug store and get a box of rubbers... then just roll them over the rim and cut the tip off...even thinner than rubber bands!

driving behind a purple crown victoria today. the wheels ended at my eye level. i've never, EVER seen rims that big before. children could've played underneath the car when it was parked.

but anything above 18 is just retarded for this car, and likely detrimental for performance on most

LOL, I thought you knew man! You CANNOT talk about large size wheels on this site. People's heart rates start going up, people have strokes, camels die, boats sink, etc etc.

As you can tell from some of the zombie-like responses, if it isnt about performance, it just aint right. Recognize and tell your boy to buy some 10's

Old topic but im getting 20's for my ride and lowering it. Also there are 20's that are way lighter than the stock wheels. Just depending on the stlye. Only thing im trying to do is be different.

If you're talking about a 6, I'd LOVE to hear about 20's that are lighter than stock. I seriously doubt this, even if they're forged, but please prove me wrong. By the way, where are you going to find tires to fit the 6 in 20s? As far as I know, they don't exist, but again, maybe I'm wrong. I've been wrong once or twice... 8.gif
crossbow
Only feasible way a 20 could be lighter then the 17's would be if it was made from magnesium, and signifcantly thinner then stock...even then all 4 of them would cost more then the retail price of a new Mazda 6.
GreenNuggs
I think you should take Nike's advice and just do it. Put 20s on the car. And when you have serious issues, we'll keep tight lipped knowing that we warned you in advance.

225/30/20 would be the best option, very expensive and very thin though

It's the same height as the original equipment tire, but in extra load only carries an 85 load index! Remember, you need at least 91. So, let's see, pay over $1000 for a set of BFGs, wear them out in 10,000 miles or less, do it all over again! Note to self: send e-mail to Toyo - we need to make this size!

That rim at 20x8.5 will most likely have an offset of 38 or lower. It'll stick past your fenders, and you'll tear your fenders apart. I've been there and done that. Get rims that FIT!

More likely to blow them out than wear them out. Been selling Coopers four years now and those who go below the load rating, more often than not, the tread seperates, comes apart (With it still having between 4 to 7/32nds).

When we are talking about 20s and tires already so close to the fender, when you go big on this car, your going to pay big in repairs when the tire fails because you were too wrapped up in showing off to everyone.

To give you a recent example, one blew out on a minivan and did $2,500 worth of damage.

And 20x8.5 will NOT fit with the offset available in that wheel
