Full Version: Anyone else ever have this happen to them?

I was putting my winter wheels on today, and while snugging up one of the safety lug nuts (by snugging up I mean just making them contact the rims so when i tires in contact with the ground the rims are flush) this happend:







Now I've gotta figure how to get the rest of the lug nut off without fucking up the thread. To re-state how little pressure it took for this to happen, I probably put about the equivalent of 30-40ft/lbs on it and the head snapped off and the lug nut split. And the chrome finish on it makes using vice grips useless. Anyone have any suggestions?

others will be fine I am sure ...did you try to gently "hummer out" the rest of it ?

I've had this happen, not to my car though. I had to drill the damn thing out and put in a new stud.
