So, I got my wheels and although the boxes were properly marked, I got four chrome wheels instead of black painted/machined. I am not sure whether to send the chrome wheels back or not...

On one hand, the chrome wheels are almost 2x the price of what I paid and the chrome will hold up better in the winter. On the other hand, these wheels might be too much bling for the car...

What do you guys think?

Ship em back or bolt em on?

This is what I ordered-

This is what I got-

Not sure what to do...

The chromes are pretty sick looking, but it depends on what theme you are going with for your car.

What color is your car?

Send them back and ask for a discount for your inconvenience.

Car is white...

What I would do: Without scratching or otherwise damaging them, set them on something in front of your current wheels and see first-hand whether or not you like the look.

Since chromies are usually more expensive, you might try your hand at selling them on Ebay, then use the proceeds to buy the wheels you originally wanted..and pocket the tidy profit. Consider it payment for your inconvenience.

I personally do not like chrome wheels but it's up to you what you want on your car.

If you ordered/wanted black and got chrome, someone goofed. If the boxes said black and the contents were wrong then they were either mispackaged or mislabeled by the manufacturer.
Whoever sold them to you SHOULD be willing to correct the problem, and you should not have to be paying return shipping charges out of your pocket for something that was not your error.
If you really want the black ones then I'd be politely but firmly on the phone with the vendor to get the situation corrected.

Why not sell the rims for just under retail price and buy the black ones again. Also, try doing it from the same guy and tell him that you're so happy with your purchase you want another set, since you're a returning customer, see if he can get you a discount. It's win win!

I have decided that I definitely won't put the wheels on the car. The chrome wheels just take away from white/black only theme I am going for.

The problem with buying another set is, I don't want to hassle with this set and its a liability for me. There are no guarantees that I will find someone to pay me full retail for these wheels in time to get the money, buy the other set and pay my credit card back before finance charges pile on. Plus I have to ship them, blah, blah.

I am taking the high road on this one. Company is expediting me a replacement set and I will ship the blings back to them. I must be getting older. About 10 years ago, this would have been the COOLEST mistake ever. Now, I just want it to look more subtle.

lol, nothing wrong with having scruples. I doubt it but, are they going to make you pay for shipping them back or are they going to refund what you spend on shipping? Or more likely, they'll send a return receipt right?

Ya, they are going to arrange pickup of the wheels a day or two after they drop off the new set. No problem for me. I actually hand the driver the open boxes and he takes em away, repacks and returns.

I am in the same boat as you with the chrome. I think there should be a rule; no chrome after you turn 30.

Do you have the new ones on yet? Let's see some pics.

No new wheels until Monday... I have had a terrible time trying to get wheels.
