I have a blue '05 mazda 6 V6 and I wanted to make my center trim around the stereo and temp controls blue instead of silver and also If it could have space to install an after market stereo while still maintaining the one peice look that would be tight.

you gotta buy the metra kit to install the aftermarket stereo, i think they make another one now for the double din systems as well. you can get the metra kit from therpmstore.com as for the other one i have no idea, im sure someone here will post some info about it anyway. as far as removing the stereo goes the kit comes with instructions but if your looking to do that right away there should be a how to around here somewhere. try searching

see if you can remove the shift console first (instructions in other thread). if you have trouble doing that, i would not attempt to remove the faceplate. swapping out the entire radio with a new face plate is easy. removing the faceplate from the radio, and re-attaching it later (although not hard at all) is abit more tedious.

if you are confident you can do it yourself, get instructions on how to install a metra-kit from rpmstore, and use it as a guide.

I did the shift boot easily and and turned out just fine so i was thinking about just painting my current console myself instead of buying one with an aftermarket stereo cause I like how it is now so how do I go about removing it just for painting?
