I started to wrote it all out but it gets complicated.

Section 9-20 explains the stereo system among other things.
It will refer you to Section 9-17 to remove the door panels.

Section 9-20 Entertainment
Section 9-17 Interior Trim

Have fun!

I already got one of those, so you should just send me your manual and I'll scan everything for you. I'll email you a special copy of it and keep yours, it's a fair tade in my mind...

Thanks for putting those documents up for others to see.
It would have saved me some aggravation had I seen this before I removed panels to add soundproofing.

Hey Fudd,

Where did you add the soundproofing? There isn't a whole lot of metal in the GTi to fix on to . . . was it dynamat or actual insulation?

I was pretty impressed that it was factory insulated at any point (coming from honda) to start with . . .

As a note to anyone else, for 6.5" into the doors, a 3/4" MDF 6x8 to 6 downsize ring/spacer is optimal . . . if I could find the farking chuck to my rotozip there'd be some in there already *GRR*
